Needles & Grooves AotM /// Vol. 13 - July 2020 /// Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons

I was thinking about "Shirley Bassey sings the movies" which is an album full of covers that I could connect to many clues, but it has been released in 1995, so that wouldn't fit.

If it is all music covered or otherwise by an album post 2000, the Carl Sagan and Roger Moore clues should really narrow it down.

The Sagan clue might still be where to go. I think he's only really associated with both Cosmos shows and Contact.

I agree with this. We should look for songs in their movies that have been covered past 2000 and are included on a cover album. That might be the best way to find that album.

I'm thinking you're right about an album of covers of songs prior to 2000. Maybe even of a single artist like the Seu Jorge Life Aquatic album. Bowie has music in hundreds of movies. If it's multiple artists I feel like we're still not close to narrowing it down.

We are no friends anymore

I wonder if we’re going modern classical, like a Steve Reich or Arvo Part or someone like that. So the album is someone interpreting/playing these pieces in a suite?

Or, it’s something like Lemon Jelly’s ‘64-‘95(?) they samples old songs to make new...

ive notchecked back thru clues (erm maybe i should have) but i think the film /tv show could be from anytime just the song used was eventaulky put into an album which appeared after 2000.

I was focused on the artists when I was going through soundtracks and not songs. *sigh * back to the drawing board....

But, unless I’m way off-base from the new hints and clues, the current game is:

(1) songs from the album have appeared in the shows/movies of the featured photo subjects
(2) the songs on the soundtracks are by a variety of different singers, not necessarily the artist of the month
(3) the album of the month is post-2000

The link has to be the first Cosmos, right? Since @Alexander said 80s Sagan? Does that mean we're looking for a Vangelis cover? I couldn't find a good fit for that, but I didn't look for too long. Maybe I misunderstood again though.

Here the Music of Cosmos soundtrack list. Probably not every song in the show though.

y'all just lemme know when you figure this out. also lemme know your thoughts on injera cause I just ate way too much of it straight up, not even using it as a scoop, and I regret nothing.

Just eating the spongey bread? That is hard core. I do love Ethiopian food so much. And that bread - it expands in your stomach. Are you alive today? Did your stomach explode? LET US KNOW!!!!

ok, let's give it a try.

I have dedicated approximately 3 minutes to solve this and have noticed/discovered that Vangelis was sampled by J Dilla.
so if anybody has the chance to check if any other song was sampled by J Dilla....
I believe there are only 2000+ samples to sort through...

so @Alexander... do I have it?

edit/formal guess
J Dilla - Donuts
