I really am very excited to share my pick with you, it is an act and an album that I love sharing with people and introducing them to.
I am so shocked that this AOTM pick was released in 2019, especially due to that post (the one I have quoted here) you made on the first page. Because you mentioned that you ‘love’ sharing this album with people, I thought it must have been an album that was at least like 5+ years old!!! 😅😗

Now that it’s confirmed that your AOTM was released this year, I’m completely gagged!!! 🤪

The music is intemporal and there is an all story of Irish music and tradition in this record. I understand that he loves to share The Gloaming music because, this way, he is also sharing part of his own story. Damn, I almost shed a tear writing this. @Joe Mac, here is your writing.

sorry I’ve been in one of those full organisation wide “management days” today listening to psychology and mindfulness and please kill me right now before my eyes roll their way out of my head.

anyway @Skalap has it completely. Irish traditional music, outside of tourist and commercial shit, is very much of this place. It uses ancient techniques and tells stories of the past and the culture. It something that is spontaneous and that can jump from joyous to plaintive to melancholic beauty. What the Gloaming have done, that I’ve never heard before is taken that, broken it down and reformed it into something that is all those things but is also something other. It is our past and present but also our future. It’s also plainly beautiful music. It’s a pleasure to recommend them to people. I have reasons why this particular album too but I don’t want to say too much when I’m going to have to try and articulate this in a longer form on Friday.

i wanna #noswap this one but it just doesn't click with me... its too much for me, i'll either go with one of the other choices or finally satisfy the camaron month where i couldn't do it out of money

Id certainly say give it a fair hearing, it’s very different to most other western music, but if it doesn’t click I’ll be posting 6 further listening options on Friday too and these, whilst also Irish, are from much more mainstream genres. I don’t want to call them swaptions (why I’m using the term “further listening”) because this a a unique record id like people to sample it and give it a good chance first.

However, if you’re more comfortable swapping for one of them then that’s ok too because I don’t want anyone to have a record they don’t like and you’re still supporting a great artist from this country 😀
