I think the clue was kind of clarified as not these:I’d like to know if it indisputably a genre or just something different.
It could be literally anything, providing I like it.
well other than jazz, Lou Reed, metal, country/Americana/pop crossover, flamenco or 50s rock throwback. Oh and Christmas music, I ruled that out too.
I’d like to know if it indisputably a genre or just something different.
For example my hunch was something like Rammstein but to most people that is metal but we already did metal but Rammstein isn’t actually metal yet that fact would be disputed. Same idea applies to a lot of punk. Like, I think The Clash is a decent guess and there should be no disputing they are punk (At least their earlier, worthwhile stuff).
Sorry for the delay guys, I'm still coming down from my Anima/Thom Yorke high. Managed to catch two shows(Santa Barbara on the 25th and The Greek Theatre on the 29th). I'll update in a few, let me know if I missed something!.

Genre is funny. One persons Post-Britpop is another’s Post-Punk. Anyway, I believe the picker likes some of these bands if y’all wanna use this as a resource

Is post-britpop even a thing? If it is I can’t think of anyone good in it? All the good uk bands of the early 00s were much more indebted to Gang of Four and Orange Juice or Joy Division.
I don’t know if it’s a thing, but according to a Wikipedia list I was looking at, Doves and Bloc Party were categorized as post-Britpop.
I sort my classic rock, punk, post-punk, new wave, alternative, pop, singer/songwriter, blues-rock, post-whatever, psychedelic, surf rock, glam, power pop, garage, indie and whatever else rock LPs in a single section called "rock".
