Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

[/QUOTE]
Honestly, I do think this is scary, but also, I don't think there's a much better way to do this if we do decide to soft open things based on risk factors. If we start needing to bring antibody testing results in order to go places or do certain things, I could definitely see this being done state by state via some sort of official app. BUT, I see this as problematic because it does violate HIPAA privacy rules. I'm not really sure how we are going to handle this in the west because we are so much more concerned with personal privacy and personal freedoms than anyone in China.
THIS

Though there have been so many updates/modifications to the HIPAA rules in the past 30 days its getting cumbersome to keep up with. I recently wrote a blog article on all of the different updates that should be posted to my company website this week. Crazy times.

me, staying inside, while everyone else rushes to gyms and barber shops

Exactly. I’m not going to be a guinea pig for the government. Whatever they want me to do, I won’t. I’ll listen to the scientists and doctors.

What is disturbing are those who are worried about their “rights”. They could be asymptomatic. They don’t have the “right” to infect others.

I’m just hoping we don’t have 4 more years of Trump. He screwed this all up. We need a sane, rational person at the helm. A true leader. Not the ravings and knee jerk reactions of a shitbird.

Movies are being released directly to the home for on demand streaming. This is pointless.
Theaters are gonna have a real problem when this is all over. A bunch of stuff is coming out now, a bunch of stuff is being delayed to await theaters opening and most productions have stopped. There is going to be a real content issue at some point for all scripted shows and movies. The effects of this crisis are going to be complex and take a long while to be fully felt and overcome.

My favorite is theaters. Who the fuck is gonna go to the theater right now? They aren’t even releasing any movies right now.

Hubris will doom us all.

Also, it's one thing to say theaters can open, but do theaters actually want to open right now? If nobody is going, they will be losing even more money by paying staff for nothing.

To some extent, it's actually the politicians that are doing theater to portray a certain image for their base.

I'm starting to think it's less about "reopening the economy" and more about just getting the government off the hook for extra financial support. If restrictions are lifted and individual businesses decide to remain closed, then it's on them for making that choice. No more economic stimulus. No more extra unemployment benefits. No more leverage for rent/debt forgiveness. It'll be a lose-lose for lots of businesses: open up, put yourself at risk for a fraction of the customers, and you probably fail. Or stay closed, assistance dries up, and you probably fail.
It's the same for all those trying to claim unemployment right now. If their place of business opens back up, then they can work and therefore don't qualify for unemployment anymore. People who don't want to (and rightly so) will be forced back into the public sector to give Karen a haircut. Of course a lot less people are getting their hair cut, so they're not making as much money, their kids aren't in school, so they're having to either pay someone or having a family member watch them. If they catch it, they bring it home to multiple people, likely older family members trying to help them out.

This entire situation is fucked.

I went to the theater the day before the shutdown it was awesome I was the only one there, I'm for them opening but only just for me. Being alone in an IMAX is a fun time

I think they'll be okay eventually . When it's safe to go out they are going to play a ton of older movies. It's going to be cool seeing some old classics remastered on a Dolby Cinema screen. I just saw the Matrix remaster a few month ago and it was really cool .

Serological study in LA county suggests that the real count of people that have been exposed/infected with SARS-CoV-2 is 50-80x higher than reported. It's a lot more than expected, but it would be 2.5-4%, which is still below the threshold needed for herd immunity.

The article is not peer-reviewed yet and there may be some issue with how candidate selection was done. There are other issues as well, as the Wired article points out.

It's interesting, but I'd wait until similar (and better designed) studies get performed elsewhere before drawing too many conclusions.
