Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

I've seen this - New Jersey is also on a slight down curve IIRC. But because of its sheer numbers, NYC is basically driving the curve of the entire country down by itself, giving the impression of a plateau that is in fact not there at all.

Exactly. When the data shows just the United States, it shows we have flattened the curve. It's very misleading.

All the progress in New York is being offset by increase spread starting in the rest of the country. And the flattening of the curve is what is driving many of the Red states to reopen.

A mall opened up in Southern California yesterday defying the states stay at home order.

People lined up outside after hearing it would open. It looked like the morning of black friday with people ready to shop for all the deals and steals.

Thankfully, not every store in the mall reopened.

Even more troubling, the local, conservative health officials gave the go to open. Basically saying ignore the statewide mandate, we feel it's safe to open.

Hillstone Restaurant Group has decided to mandate that their employees cannot wear masks while working.
I really hope they get sued over this.
Who's ready for unsolicited fun from my mom this time?

Boomer: Hey, I've got this video that shows that Fauci is engineering this to make money.
Boomer's Kid: Obviously, this video is a hoax. The person that released it has her own agenda and the video has been edited in a misleading way.
Boomer: Well fine! Stay ignorant then!

Somebody doesn’t appreciate their rainbow lightbody codes.

I would be very surprised if you told me they are well versed in multi color fluorescent in situ hybridization of chromosomes.

In hospitals around the world, doctors are shaking their heads in disbelief as they watch Covid-19 patients who should be comatose or "seizing" from hypoxia -- a lack of oxygen in the body's tissues -- check social media, chat with nurses and barely complain of discomfort while breathing.

In addition, Levitan said, scans of these patients' lungs showed signs of pneumonia so severe they should be in terrible pain as they gasp for their next breath.

This is rather interesting. I wonder why COVID-19 is creating so many Silent Hypoxia cases.

It also should raise alarm bells.

I have lost all faith and hope that the US can get through this. We haven't even scratched the surface of the disparate treatment authoritiesare showing black people v white people. Cops seem to think it is open season for them to abuse and demean black people.

November is my last glimmer of sanity.

And we've only dealt with the first wave of infections. Here's a really good article about the different model scenarios:

Looking at our trend, I would say we are leaning towards either the second or third scenario. This is from the article and really sums up what I've been thinking:

Society must referee what Leung calls “a three-way tug of war” among a trio of competing needs: to keep cases and deaths low, to preserve jobs and economic activity, and to preserve people’s emotional well-being. “It’s a battle between what we need to do for public health and what we need to do for the economy and for social and emotional well-being,” he said. If the public health part of the tug-of-war weakens, then the waves will keep on coming through the end of 2022.

My take away from this is lobbyist hold more influential weight than the scientists. All the CDC's recommendations were considered too stringent the the Coronavirus Task Force / Trump Administration. The CDC's guidelines also left businesses vulnerable to legal liability if a worker contracts or dies from COVID-19 on the job.

That being said, coming from the IP world, if you do a Google search and it comes up as a top wiki hit, it's a pretty damn well known piece of information. Sure, you should double check with a better source after.
This ain’t it ....

People go to malls?

It was supposed to be published last Friday, but agency scientists were told the guidance “would never see the light of day,” according to a CDC official.
