New Music Friday!

Tomfoolery and drug jokes aside, this actually sounds interesting - in the queue for work tomorrow!

[edit: in the queue for work Friday, rather!]

Listening to Etran de L'air now. This is definitely more of what I was looking for than the RS Afrobeat list which I will probably check out as well. The writer for RS that was covering the list did make a good point about exploring outside my comfort zone, which I do, but only to a certain extent.

Maybe @Selaws is the right person to ask, but it seems reasonable to ask here. Does anyone have a good line on new world/international music. I’ve upped my podcast listening on my short commute and I’m listening to Rolling Stone Now’s music you may have missed last year episode (Country was a wash)… anyhow I’ve heard some interesting things in the Afrobeat portion and was wondering where to start looking for that stuff and other nonwestern music.

(Cause what I need is more music to listen to, clearly)
or maybe I meant to invoke @Skalap

@avecigrec seems to be all over this! Im going to listen too.

One of my favourite websites is Radio Garden. Its a google earth-type model that plots radio stations across the world. All you need to do is orbit around, hone in on a country, zoom in and click and it loads that specific station directly.

I have found some incredible music this was over the years. Tiny little college or 1-man radio stations in Jamaica, Russia, the Congo....

Its been a long time since I actually popped back on, just re-downloading now then im digging in!

It's on my radar 📡 list for Friday that I posted the other day 😉

If you use Spotify I recommend Mr Bongo playlists. There are quite a lot to pick and even though they don't uplist some frequently you'll certainly find something for you. I'd suggest starting with their 2022 top 50 :

You can also check on Paris DJs Podcast They used to have a real website but it seems it's down now (haven't checked in years tbh). Mixes are still available though, which is the most important. Ctrl+F afrobeat and open your years.

By the way. Is everything ok since you had you nose bleeding the other day?

Haven’t had one since the other day. My in-laws had Covid right after Christmas so I just exited the window to set up a follow up and am going in on the 19th to see what’s up. I stopped my BP medicine and my doc is a little irritated but I don’t care. They started two days after I started the med and ended two days after I stopped the med.

Thanks for asking!
