New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Think I’ll wait for the next couple of batches. I’ve cleaned the vast majority of my collection, so it’s only new and problem records I’d be cleaning. All changes if my pro-ject is definitely borked though.

Growing up I thought people offering me free drugs was going to be way more common.

I feel like I missed out.
Tell me about it! That and the anti-marijuana legalization propaganda. From what I was told, it would be everywhere when it was made legal and that's just not the case

Haha! Ever been to Oregon? Dispensaries are about as plentiful as bars in Boston! ;) (and that's not a complaint....)

Go Turbo! Go Turbo! Go Turbo!

The government fucked up my pay and were withholding too much over the last 2 years. I only noticed in december because the stub was confusing. Anyway, they fixed it and I got a significant reimbursement. I ordered the new speakers I wanted. For now, I'm just looking to see if I want to do more. The humminguru and a new DAC were the things on my list of possibilities. I'll probably stick the rest in a retirement savings plan.

Interesting. I'm a huge HG fan, love my HG record cleaner. But, the Hudson Hi-Fi ultrasonic stylus cleaner is only $35. Has anyone tried that unit?
This is a great deal. The description on Amazon is wrong. The is an ultrasonic stylus cleaner. You put one drop of fluid on the brush, put the stylus on the brush and turn it in for the specified number of seconds. The only other one I know of is $150. At $35, it’s a deal.

Caution if your stylus is bonded. I would definitely not use this with an Ortofon bonded stylus- OM 3,5,10 or 2m Red. I have liquid cleaned bonded Grado styli for years with no issues. Nude styli should be fine. But YMMV and all of that.

And the Flux unit for $150 is well-reviewed at Music Direct and by Fremer. Btw, I love how Fremer tested it on the store's $10,000 cartridge.

So, unlike HG's record cleaner, this forthcoming stylus cleaner already has competition in the $35-150 price range. And decent stylus force gauges are readily available for around $10 from China.
