NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

Never been a fan of his, but they needed some extra scoring. They need to make a splash for a center or a PMD but that might have to come via trade later.
Is it because he played for Ottawa? He's a good skater and has a wicked shot. He's particularly good on the PP. I think it's a decent move.

No no… just talk about his ability to follow a coaching system. His scoring is exactly what the doctor ordered and the contact is good. Maybe he wisened with age.

IIRC, didn't he get traded from Ottawa after some weird soap opera involving his wife having a quarrel with Karlsson's wife? What was up with that?

The Boston Bruins traded goaltender Dan Vladar to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a third-round pick, the team announced Wednesday.

The move comes after the Bruins inked goalie Linus Ullmark to a four-year, $20-million contract.

Vladar, 23, would have been required to pass through waivers if sent to the AHL, according to DailyFaceoff's Frank Seravalli. Meanwhile, goaltender Jeremy Swayman is exempt from waivers.

The Bruins drafted Vladar with the 75th pick in 2015. He appeared in five games last season, recording a .886 save percentage and 3.40 goals-against average.

The Boston Bruins have landed forward Nick Foligno on a two-year deal with a cap hit of $3.8 million.

The 14-year veteran was an unrestricted free agent who finished this past season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He collected seven goals and 13 assists over 49 contests with the Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets in 2021.

Foligno, who turns 34 in October, battled injury down the stretch. He suited up for only four of Toronto's seven playoff games against the Montreal Canadiens after getting hurt in a game against them late in the regular season.

The Maple Leafs acquired him from the Blue Jackets in April as part of a three-team swap in which the Maple Leafs surrendered a first-round pick and two fourth-rounders.

Foligno served as Blue Jackets captain for six campaigns before the trade.

The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Derek Forbort to a three-year deal worth $9 million.

Forbort played for the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, and Winnipeg Jets during the last two seasons.

The 29-year-old registered 12 points in 56 games last year while averaging nearly 21 minutes of ice time per night.

He should be a fixture on the Bruins' penalty kill and provide physicality toward the bottom of the blue-line depth chart.

The Detroit Red Wings signed forward Pius Suter to a two-year contract Wednesday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $3.25 million, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.

Suter, who was an unrestricted free agent, netted 14 goals and 13 assists while averaging 16:20 of ice time over 55 games in his rookie season with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 25-year-old finished 11th in Calder Trophy voting.

He notched a hat trick against the Red Wings in a 6-2 win over Detroit on Jan. 24.

Forbort sounds like something the Swedish Chef would say.
