Day 03: The Wide World of Sports

You really couldn't not hear the intro to the Bulls when you lived in Illinois - even downstate - in the 90's heyday of the Bulls 6 championships.

Day 02: Friday Fun
Spin something that reminds of the best day of week.

Wheedle’s Groove - Seattle’s Finest in Funk & Soul 1965-75

This is such a fun collection of tracks from my hometown (before my time, however), and the documentary is really good, too. Kind of a transition to Day 3: “Wheedle” was the mascot of the Seattle SuperSonics for a period of time. Here he is drinking Pepsi with his buddies:

Day 03: The Wide World of Sports - Part 2

I'll spin another - as I doubt anyone else has it.

It's mostly a recap of the regular season and post season games - narrated by Jack Buck. Some Kool & The Gang can be heard at the end.

It was their theme song of that year.

Oh....and RIP Bob Gibson.

I was only 5 when they won...but it's something I still remember. I was also young enough to think we could see the fireworks over Busch Stadium from our house 15 miles away on the Illinois side....we couldn't of course.

Interesting collection of songs that pays homage to 1990s NBA, a time when basketball was life for a kid in elementary school. I wish I still had my Xavier McDaniel poster (“The X-Man Cometh”). I swear it would be hanging on my wall if it was still in my possession.

As much as absolutely love Q-Tip, I have always had a soft spot for Phife Dawg mainly because of his unbridled passion for Sports. He managed to spit a ton of clever and funny sports references throughout his short time.

Day 3 - Sports

Back when I could drink heavily during any Badger/Packer game with friends, Start Me Up was a staple to play when cracking the first beer of the day. It’s unfortunately difficult to day drink when you have young kids around. Maybe I’ll start back up when they’re old enough to fend for themselves 😂

Day 3 | The Wide World of Sports
2 Chainz - Rap Or Go To The League

This album was executive produced by Lebron James (whatever that entails), 2 Chainz raps about his days playing ball, and he makes a case for college players getting paid. He worked with some huge names on this album (Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, Chance The Rapper, etc.). 9th Wonder’s beat on “Threat 2 Society” is so smooth and was my favorite beat last year along with “Crowns For Kings” by DJ Shay (RIP) on Benny’s album. There was a surprising amount of old-man rap on here, which is right in my pocket these days. But there’s still plenty of what makes people love or hate 2 Chainz. I tend to lean more on the love side though.

I thought of using this album because I went to a college football game at Veterans stadium right before they blew it up. Tribe and Fat Joe had a free concert afterwards . It was supposed to be Tribes final concert ever. Qtip kept chanting come closer , as in the people from the 700 hundred levels come down. Instead. A bunch of people
(Myself included) heard come closer and took the opportunity to jump the rail and run out on field for the show. The whole thing ended up getting shut down pretty fast.

Ha, correct - although I did have Jump Around CD single when I was a kid. In normal years I do get to a few Badger games per year - the Jump Around tradition is pretty cool, although it’s also mildly terrifying depending where you’re sitting. The stadium shakes quite a bit.
It’s alright I don’t have The Super Bowl Shuffle, Journey’s “Dont Stop Believing” or The Fratelli’s “Chelsea Dagger” (for the Bears, White Sox, and Blackhawks respectively) on wax either

Very Philly.

When I was a kid my mom used to take me out of school to go to midweek afternoon San Francisco Giants games at Candlestick Park. All these years later I can remember Ticket To Ride playing between innings, as I ate a box of popcorn while cheering on some really bad baseball teams.
