October 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread: Let's Get Lexical, Lexical

8. Septentrional - (adj.) northern

ORIGIN OF SEPTENTRION

1350–1400; Middle English Septemtrio(u)n<Latin septemtriōnēs, septentriōnēs the seven stars of Ursa Major, the north, equivalent to septemseven + triōnēs (plural) plowing oxen

I am not an expert, but I don't think the stars depicted on this cover are 100% accurate. Regardless, there seems to be a Ursa Major (Big Dipper) constellation on it.

Gorillaz ~ Plastic Beach

I've been playing Gorillaz for my daughter for years, but she just got into them, and specifically this record, because one of the tracks, Rhinestone Eyes, was featured on Squid Games and she keeps hearing it played at the pool during practice.

I was pretty proud when she told me she knew what band it was when she heard the song, so she was able to find it herself on streaming.

It's funny, as much as you think "I'll get my kid into what I like" they develop their own tastes, but then you get these great moments where your worlds collide.

Northern Songs Ltd was a company that published songs Lennon and/or McCartney wrote for the Beatles (hence why I went with the album with all Lennon-McCartney songs), later sold to ATV in 1969, bought by Michael Jackson in 1985 and merged with Sony Music Publishing in 1995.

I was originally gonna play something Canadian (you know, the Great White North and all) but I went with this instead.
