Yes, but VBR has a history of being poor to mid.

Sure. But what @Nee Lewman said. If you asked me whether a DOL jazz record or an AP would sound better, I think you could give an educated guess as to which one is better…I’ve given up on VBR.
Ok, now we are going serious straw man with the above. Are you saying that Be With is on par with AP and DOL is Verve? I'm not defending Verve as the three releases I've purchased have been ok (I passed on the rest), but this is a rather hyperbolic comparison. The fact remains is that no one knows unless there is a direct comparison between the two releases and an original. Otherwise, this is all relatively pointless speculation. I find this even more irrelevant as the originals don't really sound all that great anyway (and the CD is an improvement on those as well).

Don’t lump me in on that comparison (lol), which was obviously hyperbole to make a point. Talking known quantities here.

I'm just mad that the only one I was really excited for, A Go Go, sounds like I need another volume knob so I can hear the damn thing. How a record can be so damn low volume was a real lesson to me with that one.

Hyperbole of course. But BeWith is a very good reissue label. And VBR is mid at best. The Awakening reissue BeWith did blew the VBR out of the water. Verve has a history of phoning in their own reissue series for the past 20 years.

Be With sound quality may be on par with AP, and VBR did drop the ball on Awakening, but I disagree with comparing the VBR series to gray market junk like DOL. Maybe I should have saved my $18 to put toward something better, but now I know definitely not to mention this series again here! 😂
Sorry my suggestion to try the BeWith instead turned into a rant against VBR…I’m sure it’ll be fine. The VBR series just frustrates me because they are doing some great titles and phoning them in. Meanwhile they are preventing companies who actually want to make good sounding records from licensing the titles to do them properly.

Nah, keep talking about whatever records you want to on here. We all have different taste and shopping habits. Plus you can report back and let us know your impressions of it, which could save one of us money or make us go buy it too. So don't censor yourself just because we're a curmudgeonly bunch. We're generally very nice curmudgeons.

I am mean. Speak for yourself.

Yes—please don’t let my misplaced VBR anger prevent you from posting deals or talking about certain labels around here

do you still have that google doc with all the titles?
yea but i have given up on updating it. too much stuff was going in and OOS, plus new titles popping up all the time. was too big of a time suck really. here's the link though.

i think quite a few of these are now OOS (depending on what fulfilment center things shops fall under).
