Online Vinyl Deals

27 physical discs, $365 — even with accidentally having a full price tone post in there (doh!)

Huh, quick question: anyone ever have success with cancelling one item in an order from SoV? Does their customer services respond?
They cancelled a record in an order when I inquired as to why it had not shipped. So yes? And yes, they definitely respond.

Also, wait! Happy New Year everybody!!!! You all are part of what makes each year so great. Thank you for all the small moments and ways that you each lean in to make this community and hobby better. Have a great year.

Hi all,

Happy new year! And echoing @HuddieLedbetter, I really appreciate everyone here on N&G.

FYI, Amazon is offering these weird regional deals based on where you live in the USA. I stumbled upon a "Mid-Atlantic" 30% off coupon that has 200+ items in the category. There's also one at 25% and there are similar ones based on what region you reside.

Of course it's hard to sort the CDs from the LPs so you may not even want to bother. But here's an example of something that caught my eye:

It was already discounted to $25, so with the coupon this Joe Lovano 2 x LP Tone Poet drops to $17.98.

Thanks!

Not everyone's jam, but Jewel's 25th Anniversary 2LP of Spirit is only $15.53 after that promo, which is a pretty good deal: https://a.co/d/6xR9iGR

Well, time to reach out to Rhino again. No reply yet to my December email, and while I realize there were a couple holidays in the last couple weeks I'd really like to know why they didn't ship a 12 Days of Rhino order, claiming it was out of stock. (It was the Song Remains the Same 4lp deal)
They didn't refund me, and the album shows as in stock. Not cool Rhino.

Got the cancellation (yay) and the Allman Brothers Trouble No More Box arrived. I'm really floored by how cheap some of this is -- though I'll confess feeling bad for the brick and motor shops that (caveat: I have no real idea) are both getting stuck with inventory, but also in a situation where heavy buyers of vinyl (people like us) are spending large sums now direct with the label -- and will likely be "dry" for a while. I've got another set of records in the cart at SOV -- and I'm holding off simply because with the Allman's and the most recent order, I have 37* records to clean and listen to... and that seems like a lot. (yes, I will probably cave... because records, cheap...)

still though.... Feels a lot like Warner making life tough for their local wholesale buyers...

*not to mention the others sitting in my to be cleaned shelf....

I asked my local to get me a record today.

Saving grace is that lots of this stuff is just catalog releases that they will be reissuing forever. There will always be a new remaster.

There is not much new music in these sales.

I’m no expert, but it does feel like we’re shifting back toward that 2000-2010 era of vinyl taking a back seat to other (cheaper) media. Gen Z seems to be taking to CDs, given they’re much easier to carry around + cost and ease of maintenance. Cassettes are also popping back up. Feels like beating a dead horse with this conversation but these also feel like unprecedented sales taking place.

With that said, record stores survived then, and they’ll survive now.

Also worth noting that my locals have drastically upped their CD/cassette inventory.

If the greedy finally pops the bubble and brings prices down with it I'm all for it
