Online Vinyl Deals

It's been like that since before COVID. Their shops are awesome in person but have been overpriced online for the past few years. They charge more MSRP than most other stores and then bump it up even more with the shipping built in just to say "free shipping". I love Amoeba too, but just can never justify ordering from them online.

Yeah, they’ve always had high prices for sure. Not sure if they still do, but there was always a multi-use 10% off code out there, so that plus free shipping made it worth it if you didn’t want to try to hit the free shipping threshold at Bullmoose or wherever. Don’t think I’ve ever paid full price at Amoeba.

Yea but even with the 15% off, the prices don't really get cheaper than other places or my local.

Living in LA I learned very quickly not to shop at Amoeba. With the amount of traffic that goes through there their used record section is always picked clean of any good grabs and then it’s just up to you if you want to pay MSRP for reissues. Last I went their jazz section was all BN75‘s for $20

I've found a lot of great used stuff over the years, mostly in the new arrivals or the staff picks area. Yeah it is cheaper to shop online but it's such an amazing store to spend time in I can't help by spend money there. It helps that I live nearby. I never buy from the Jazz section though, the used stuff isn't good and the prices are way too high.

Looks as though they are no longer accepting pre-orders...which is an interesting approach, to say the least. Maybe in place only for this particular coupon?
Their site got hacked the other day. They issued a statement saying for the time being they are not accepting pre-orders.

Amoeba had that massive surge for a bit online when they were doing those groupon deals, then you were able to find a few awesome deals here and there but outside of that they're hardly worth checking out imo. Even there used stuff is usually marked up. There stores are cool though, I wish I lived closer to one or even any real record store because they get a lot of traffic so you basically have to be lucky and find a good used album before someone else. I've got a couple nice finds over the years in store.

I got an email that didn't mention anything about not accepting pre-orders. I used the coupon to pre-order an album last night and it worked just fine.

Yes, it looks as though pre-orders are once again available to purchase online. Of course, in most cases the 15% coupon doesn't even get you in the ballpark of what you would pay at Bullmoose et al.

So it may not be the right place to post this but I went to Barnes and Noble today and they had some good items on 50% clearance of vinyl so it may be that time of year they look to rotate stock. Grabbed the Blue Valentine OST, Superbad OST, and Hell-On at 50% off and they were at best 25% or full price last week.
