Online Vinyl Deals

bandbox deal is back up. $14.50 shipped for any one album in their inventory. added a bunch of artists since last time the sale went up. Use the code ROCKS for the deal ($15 off your first box). I used them back when their first sale went live and it was super easy to cancel after the first month if you chose to do so. Worth noting--they do have Homegrown by Neil Young on there but it's very likely that they will not actually be getting it since no stores seem to be able to get it right now.

So 14 dollars for a bandbox or just one album?

So 14 dollars for a bandbox or just one album?
It's a bit confusing...it's a "subscription" service in which each month you choose an artist you want a record from and they add two new artists each month. They let you know which albums they have for each artist and you can choose one or let them pick a mystery one from those. For this deal, you will get to choose one album for that $14.50 shipped price.

If you click subscribe you can see what the album options are. They don’t have pressing info but some of those albums (like To Pimp A Butterfly) only really had the one main US pressing.

Do they also ship internationally?

Do they also ship internationally?
I believe they do ship internationally to some countries but not sure what the shipping price would be and not entirely sure it would be worth it cost-wise depending on that. I do wish they listed more information about the specific pressings. But I grabbed a Neil Young album I've been wanting for $14.50 shipped so can't complain about that too much!

I didn't know where else to put this, but wanted to share because I tripped over it by accident and NOW can't wait to get it. What they did on this release and the deluxe packaging (a "cd tray" like insert for the vinyl) is pretty cool. I love Chester, and this is a fitting release/tribute to his career............really enjoying the album.

Maybe post in pre-order thread too even though it's not technically a preorder?

They already shipped my record out today and I ordered yesterday. I ordered from them in the past and have no complaints about it. Fast to ship, easy to cancel. I'm curious to see which version I end up getting of the Neil Young album, but for $14.50 shipped it's really not a bad deal. I wouldn't pay full price for the service personally, but the idea is not bad if you are starting out a vinyl collection.

I wondered if it was an across-the-board thing because the one record I looked at was $10 more than what I can get it for on Amazon.
It's pretty much across the board. Their prices are crazy online. They price shipping into the costs and then say "free shipping". The only benefit I have found of Amoeba online is if they have something that is sold out everywhere else but even then it's still above MSRP.

I haven't ordered much from them, but is this common? I'm just wondering if their trying to offset losses due to the closures, and didn't they mention somewhere that only new albums were on the online shop for now? Either way, not a good thing or tactic as mentioned. You hate to see such iconic shops go away, if I read correctly they were in the process of relocating anyway, it just happened sooner than planned.

I get "support your local shops", but if they're trying to make up lost brick and mortar revenue by increasing prices, that's probably going to backfire in a big way.

It's been like that since before COVID. Their shops are awesome in person but have been overpriced online for the past few years. They charge more MSRP than most other stores and then bump it up even more with the shipping built in just to say "free shipping". I love Amoeba too, but just can never justify ordering from them online.

Yeah, I don't know. I've ordered from them before and certainly looked at their site a lot over the past few years and I don't recall there being this much of a gap between their prices and what might be considered "the norm."

amoeba is insane if they think charging maximum MSRP for stuff is going to fly with so much competition. free shipping is nice, but $30 for a PJ Harvey reissue is idiotic.
I agree. I have had to really hunt through their increasingly limited selection to find any items priced at a point where 15% off and free shipping makes them a reasonable purchase. As examples, I have found LPs by Stereolab and Pink Floyd to be fairly priced there.
