Online Vinyl Deals

I was mostly being a cheeky git slapping at low-hanging fruit ;)

Not gonna lie Steven Tyler has always eeeeeeasily had one of the most punchable faces in music for me and even now as a senior citizen it has only grown more punchable which is pretty impressive.

They have some decent stuff though super early on in the 70's and Get A Grip is dripping with nostalgia for me (probably more because of Alicia Silverstone then Steven Tyler though 🥵) but I still haven't been able to buy any albums. My dog chewed the shit out of there greatest hits album when he was a puppy and I remember at the time being mildly happy he at least chose that album even though it was solid!

Alicia Silverstone, his own daughter and of course Beavis & Butthead commenting on there videos all come first though!

"Beavis... I thought you were daddy’s little cutie?" quote > Aerosmith's entire Discography

God only knows what condition anything you buy will be in but some solid deals maybe worth taking a risk on!

I got the Detroit Mix of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On for $30
Buck Owens (60th Anniversary Edition) (COKE CLEAR VINYL) $8 << there was at least a few of these still left.
Vincent Neil Emerson $11
Macabre - Carnival of Killers (Carnival Killing Spree Edition) $11
An American Werewolf in London 4K $17

Not too bad at that point but I started getting a little crazy and bought 2 random ornaments and a fucking turtle statue named Gilbert which finally lead too....
a OnePlus 9 Pro for just shy of $400 😬 Not sure if i'll keep it yet but i'm shutting things down now.

I mean, I've internally mocked the Tool Fear Innoculum Box at prior price points but at this point for this particular used copy (and Warehouse damage on box sets is generally box, not discs) gets down to like...56 bucks. That's less than the 3LP version. I'm not going for it as I'm not a Tool fan but...

Other general interest items, mostly expensive stuff, I'm seeing on browsing. I'm avoiding Acceptable and Good in generally since usually damage on that is widely variable.

Marvin Gaye 50th (Very Good down to around 20.xx)
Rosalia - Motomami (Very Good down to 20.xx)
Nirvana - Nevermind Super Deluxe (Very Good and Live New Down to about 130ish)
Norah Jones- Come Away With Me 20th Super Deluxe (gets it down to the high 80s, and that might be my time to buy).
Grateful Dead - Dick's Picks Vol 19 (120ish)
Billy Joel - The Collection Vol 1 (VG gets down to 85ish I think, with Good and Acceptable risks lower)
Almost Famous Deluxe (Around 60)
Highway Butterfly (that infamous Neal Casal deal), if you get the vinyl, around 45

I grabbed Milt Jackson And The Thelonious Monk Quintet BN Classic for $14 including tax, make sure you check those details before buying from the Warehouse and set the right expectation that your record might arrive knocking around inside a much larger box with no protection!

For those uninitiated, Warehouse is a very fickle beast. Below are my general experiences for vinyl specifically

  • Like New: This should be pretty much sealed, returned stock (like someone got the wrong record or just didn't want it). You might get shrink removed but you are likely to get a sealed record with minimal damage at worst
  • Very Good: This is where you start to get more variance - it's also a grade I generally feel safe with. I've gotten legit M/M type records, but I would probably expect some minor seam splits, some wear, really nothing that would bring it below VG on sleeve and VG+ on media in my view.
  • Good: This is the lowest grade I'll usually consider ordering unless it's an absolutely bonkers deal on Acceptable, a box set, or otherwise unavailable and I want it. I'd expect some creasing on the sleeve, potentially a disc warp, possible seam splits, take your pick. Make sure the discount is worth it for you as you're unlikely to get a pristine item.
  • Acceptable: Can pretty much be anything. I've received some insane stuff from this: also generally where the irreparable disc damage hangs out (huge warps most commonly)
Some other notes:

  • Box sets are increasingly my go-to. The discounts are substantial and generally if there's damage on a box set...it's on the box. Last time they had an x% drop I got the Almost Famous Super Deluxe for about $110 I think and the literal only issue is a small box dent. I know someone here bought the Queen box on a huge discount and no real notes. Before everyone got Garth for $15, it was $11 on Warehouse and the box is kind of borked but all records are clean. You get where I'm going with this.
  • I generally recommend comparing condition and if you're okay paying x more for the higher grade, doing it at least to get to Very Good especially if it's not a box set.
  • Returns are super easy so if it's not to your standard it shouldn't be an issue to bring it back, but the hassle to you is variable.
  • Third party sellers used returns also appear here - Discogs/Ebay check your prices for weird variants, I generally don't order from that situation, ymmv.
  • To hahaha's point, shipping is a crapshoot. I've gotten some in literal plastic bags, some in mailers, some in boxes. I generally think it's on how it comes back to them and shipping capacity. Know that going in.
  • Unless something is truly OOS (I've gotten Lorde's Melodrama Deluxe from this when it was Discogsing for 200+, Willy Wonka Gold, Ray Charles Genius Loves Company, OOS stuff pops up), I generally don't bother with warehouse than less for 20% off of new and other retailing options. Acceptable has to be a lot more for me to look. Make sure your discount is real.

I have mixed luck of late with the space agency. Selecting gift indeed gets me a large outer box, but 1 of 2 in the order were loose inside, the other in a Lp mailer . I also had a thin mailer with one Lp from one of the amz uk sellers come with a little corner damage but just kept it.

Why are some not coming up as 25 off? This is why this shit is largely not worth my time.

It's select items only, I used this filtering - it should sort high to low, vinyl only, with the 25% off only.

-------------

Also, I'll shut up about Warehouse afterwards, but there's also some decent hardware albeit only some of them have the 25% off, it's not all items

Cartridge wise are mostly entry level or just above entry level carts but

ATVM95C for under $30 (headshell combo at a bit over $40), AT-VM95E with Headshell at about $65, AT-ART9XA at $800 for those of you with a lot of money, There's also some tables, a couple not the Crosley/Victrola entry. The AT-LPW40WN in the lower 200s kind of stood out to me . You have to hunt a bit. So if you're looking to upgrade a really basic rig this is a decent opportunity.

Thanks. I was going to order Brent Cobb Providence Canyon for like $8.00 but 10 and some change is more than I can pay. :)

I have made the mistake once of including a heavy box of baby wipes in the same order. I do not plan to do that again! 😩 No padding whatsoever was included between the 2, or anywhere in the outer box for that matter.
