I’ll also say this David Hogg and the Leaders We Deserve group gives me hope. I am really just learning about him and I don’t necessarily agree with all he has to say but to see a strong, well organized progressively leaning group of young activists gives me hope that maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You need to give them someone to vote for. Someone who will embrace their activism and who isn’t a failed relic from the 80s. Keep throwing Biden and Harris and the like at them as the lesser evil and ultimately they’ll end up as apathetic jaded and disaffected as the rest of us.

Maybe but I also feel there are a ton of Republicans who are sick of the Trump era and what it has created. January 6 still plays for those people. Either they won't vote for him or they just won't vote. I think Kamala is smart to do her closing argument at the National Mall. I still think she wins PA and the early vote returns look good. Georgia I think is a real toss up but black voters won the day in 2020 and I believe they'll vote in even higher numbers this time. Arizona and Nevada probably swing back to Republican because of post-Covid demographic changes. I don't have any faith in North Carolina changing.
Nevada will go blue. Harry Reid installed an excellent get out the vote machine there. I know he’s no longer around but the service labor unions are big time Dem backers, lots of minorities and women in those unions will to work diligently to keep Nevada blue.

The theme that Democrats are bad for the economy I something I hear over and over from Republicans in my family.

They continuously point out that prices go up under democrats to me as well as their taxes. They don't see reason in any alternative and dismiss the any claim that prices have gone up under both republicans and democrats as simply not true.

Also, of course, the endless fear monologuing has penetrated them. They go on and on about the "illegals".

It's very telling when you see a Trump ad or any Republican ad. None of them is about the future. Most are about "illegals", transgender surgeries on inmates, gender care for kids, and the other side being "too extreme for America". They're all about fear because that works. White, non-college education goes for Trump in huge numbers when he does next to nothing for anyone in that demographic. He literally runs the play of the cartoon I posted above and they fall for it every time. Illegals are the reason for all that ails you. My only hope is that side just doesn't vote because they aren't motivated.

I’ll say this about NC - traveling around town and paying attention. People aren’t driving around with Trump/Vance stickers or signs in their yard. In 2016 and 2020 it was very strong even here in very blue Durham. We went to Huntersville over the weekend and it wasn’t very apparent on the way or there either.

Robinson has lost further ground since the CNN story and might have persuaded some knuckleheads with his stunting the week following Helene but then opened up the sores of the CNN nonsense.

They are propping up their own candidates and working towards the future. I don’t think they necessarily care about the current structure other than to get their foot in the door.

I still think that is a bullshit argument that doesn’t pay attention to actual facts. My taxes went up every time a republican was in office and went down every time a democrat was in office. Pure and simple. People look at aggregate stats and don’t actually look at the percentage coming out of their check. These are the lemmings that do what everyone around them says they should do.

And the media will actually report things like Trump's plans will make everything more expensive, make middle class taxes go up, and help hasten the death of social security. And yet....Republicans are better for the economy is just a bias people can't seem to shake.

NPR / Public Radio Boston was just talking how middle class wages under Biden are down 20%. And with inflation and things costing more than ever people are really hurting. The high interest rates don't help either.

Things definitely felt better under Trump.

This statistic does not surprise me at all, as I have posted articles that said as much here within the last couple months. The power has shifted back from employees to the employers. Just recently I posted an article called "The days for overpaying for talent are over".

While these decreases in salaries first started appearing in the tech industry within the last 2 to 3 years, this year it has moved to the blue collar jobs including construction. People searching for a new job just simply can not find anything offering the salaries they were just a couple years ago. On average it's 20% less now.

This really isn't affecting people who are still at the same job, unless they were given the option to be laid off or take a pay cut like my aunt was last Christmas. But for those who have been laid off or are looking for work right now this is very much a real issue.

Call me skeptical. I still remember falling asleep in 2000 thinking that Bush was getting ready to concede and waking up the next morning to a Bush victory.

I think this is the problem with polling. We expect things to remain static or to be able to build on what happened before.

It also points to the short memory and attention span of the country. Which is how we get to some bizarre world where there is a significant number of Americans who believe that they were better off four years ago when the country was literally burning and most places were still under some form of lockdown while people still died in big numbers everyday. Or a world that is shifting to the right despite the fact that this has been a bad thing everytime it has happened in history.

Yeah but that employee’s market was really a side effect of the pandemic. So again, life wasn’t better four years ago.

Obama had the economy rolling 8 years of growth and prosperity, that continued into the early parts of the Trump administration, but then there was a giant fucking pandemic that threw the global economy into chaos that we are just now pulling out of. It was never gonna be perfect but it certainly could have been way worse.

Things only felt better under Trump if you wanna cherry pick you data points.

I suppose after she was fine being the face of GoDaddy it's no surprise that Danica Patrick is Trump voting shitbag too. It's a real who's who of who's not on this list of Trump celebrity endorsements. The fact that a Snoopy fan page is in the list and Harris has Beyonce and Eminem in hers is kinda funny.

Obama calling that out on the election trail has been a good thing. Harris not pointing out the good things under Biden has been a bad thing. She’s run completely from her record - she doesn’t defend or condemn it.

Yes, it was a side effect of the pandemic. But it was a long overdue correction in wages paid to the middle class. Of course the pendulum is swinging back now and over correcting. Salaries being offered now in many cases are lower than the average wages that were paid of the same job over the last 20 years pre pandemic. That's the reality of it.

Wages have been stagnant for years. And this over correction has resulted in an overall decrease in wages currently over the 40 year average in white collar jobs and I think the last 20 years for blue collar jobs.
