Political Discussion

The best people....

“These people have no sense of humor,” Hinchcliffe responded. “Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist. I love Puerto Rico and vacation there.”
Um… no, in context it was still racist. And the last sentence is just doubling down on it.

Of course, only Trump would think it would be a good idea to invite a guy who just does roasts to talk at a political convention.

WHY IS THIS EVEN HAPPENING???

Meaning they approved the rest including the watermelon comment and the shot at Puerto Rico.
According to the article the Puerto Rico and Watermelon jokes were ad-libbed (I’m not saying we should believe this, just pointing out that from a “save face” aspect that’s their excuse. Of course, these are the same jackasses that say Trump didn’t say things he absolutely did and that there was no scuffle at Arlington.)

My daughter texted me earlier this afternoon stating that her anxiety is insanely high because of the election. I replied that it's like I'm on a rollercoaster - going from confidence to despair - multiple times a day.

Just hoping to survive this week and the next. And then, hoping to survive one day at a time thereafter. Fingers crossed doesn't seem to be enough.

Also - as a die hard NY Rangers fan - Fuck Dolan for allowing that nazi rally to taint the sanctity of MSG. We need many many tons of sage to cleanse that space that the fetid magats have disgraced.

He had a teleprompter. I doubt if they're approving jokes he would be allowed to ad-lib one but who knows with that well oiled Trump machine.

The lengths some of these fuckwads will go to. Hope they find the perpetrator. Hate to see this happen in my hometown.

The ignorance is astounding. Republicans and Democrats both use those drop boxes, ballots are collected daily. Setting them on fire is just as likely to disenfranchise a GOP voter as it is a Dem. I get that they’re “targeting” Dem areas but there is definitely no guarantee they are helping their cause.

FUCK JAMES DOLAN.
Such a sleazeball.

I think, if Harris wins, then yes, by all means, we need to keep applying pressure nonstop to make a change and plead with her not to blindly support Israel like she has been, and if she refuses to do so, well, that's why we have elections every four years, right?

That said, Trump is a fucking Nazi, or at the very least, he doesn't have any reservations about associating with them. I think it's possible for someone to hold the belief that our continued role in contributing to widespread misery in foreign lands is absolutely shameful while simultaneously recognizing that putting Trump in power again is something that must be avoided at all costs. You can say I'm being myopic or that I have "Trump Derangement Syndrome" or whatever the fuck but this piece of shit is everything my history classes taught me to avoid. While I've always known as someone who lives in the South that racism & bigotry are indeed powerful motivators for certain people to go out to vote, I have to admit, it's somehow still shocking to see a presidential campaign so openly embrace the most hateful and ignorant people in the country. I don't particularly like Harris, or any politician for that matter, but I hate nazis, so the choice here is pretty easy for me.
I stole a chunk of this for my first personalized political post on Facebook in a long while. I'm betting their algorithms will keep it from being seen but...

Phish is playing there for New Years Eve. They'll cleanse that place.

More on the return to the office policy.

My uncle posted something on Facebook last night. Something that is water is wet story for me, but came to a real surprise to him.

He works for a bank. And while return to office doesn't impact him, he was always one of those nut jobs that can't function unless he's in the office. He's too stir crazy working from home and thrives in the office. He works for a bank. Anyways, he just recently learned about his companies mandated return to the office 5 days a week policy and the fact that even people who were hired as fully remote must return to the office as well. The issue is, they hired some good talent from across the country when remote work became a thing in 2020. Before then, working from home in his line of business was unheard of. This means that the people who were hired remotely and are not within commenting distance must either find a new job or relocate.

All this so far isn't what came as a surprise to my uncle. What did is the bank is offering no help or reimbursements for these peoples relocation expenses. They ere expected to do it 100% on their own dime. This absolutely blows his mine, because twice in his career the bank paid for his relocation expenses. Once in the 90's and once in the early 2000s. This all came after the regional bank he was working at was acquired by a larger bank, and his former banks office was closed and anyone who wasn't laid off was relocated to the city the larger bank was based out of.

With that said, he is just beyond shocked that the bank will not help any of these remote employees, who are top talent, relocate so that they can commute into the office.

But to me, this comes at no surprise to me. We live in completely different times than the 90's and early 2000's and are further into late stage capitalism. Cost cutting is the norm, there is further prioritization of stock value, shareholder profits and next quarters numbers. Perks previous generations got are simply not a thing anymore. A story like this does not surprise me. If the bank were to pay for their relocation expenses, that's what would surprise me.

The latest conspiracy theory I heard from my father.

The P Diddy list leaked and Kamala Harris is on it. And this revelation should make her prospects of winning DOA.

smh
Tell your father that Trump is more likely to be on that list than Kamala.

I am worried about the next election....Not because of who could become president....I am more worried at how extreme some people are getting whether it be left or right. False information, moving goal posts to try and formulate propaganda type statements. We are being weaponized against one another all while there are multiple wars and genocide going on around the world. Algorithms have been getting smarter as we head towards a boiling point, and everyone is in some sort of echo chamber online, at home, at church, etc. Scary to me that we as a country are more focused on fighting over who we think would do a better job, all while Gaza has all but crumbled. Another 55 dead in a bombing this morning, but its more important to focus on jokes Tony Hinchcliffe made at a Trump rally? Or be concerned that Elon wants Trump to win so Starlink can become a hundred billion dollar company? We are concerned that Beyonce and J Lo were at a Diddy party (or dated him) and now support Kamala!??! We are so distracted.

The only way to take down something as big as America is from within. Simplest option for the powers that be is to let the people take out each other first. Sad times ahead
