Political Discussion

Especially with the fuckery the Republicans have created in certain voting districts. It blows my mind that it's possible to have to stand in line for up to 8 hours and past when the polls close in some districts. That's a big deterrent. Especially if you have kids to watch.

Voting should be quick and easy.
The first time I did early voting was in 2012. I recall going to the courthouse and filling in my ballot for Obama. Weirdly enough, they allowed my husband and I to fill them out in the same room and just asked that we not look at each others ballots 😂

Went to the courthouse again to early vote for Hillary in 2016. I believe that my first mail in ballot was in 2018 for mid-terms. I opted for a mail in one for every future election. I love this option and have always hand delivered our completed ballots early to BoE each year.

The last time I voted in person, the wait was prob 5 minutes at most. Having not done so in over a decade, I have no idea how long lines are in my vicinity. My guess is that it's not very long - I do recall there being a line of perhaps 15 people on the first day we could return ballots in 2020, and we were all masked and spaced out. But, my entire county has a population of just 130,000 or so.

You’re grand, I have and grow up there but my family ties are here and drew me over here 17 years ago. The second part I added after to the post is what is fundamentally irking me about the exchanges in here. It’s like theees a collective myopia to the worst side of whom you all support. In your shoes I would voting for them as there is no other choice but shouting from the rooftops about their issues and the need for change.
this is the thing though. I’ve never said they’re good. I’ve never said I agree with what they are doing. I have merely taken the pragmatic approach that this is a fubared situation and that one candidate will certainly make things worse and that the way I see the situation - it is in the other side’s best interest to do what they are saying they are trying to do.

And to be clear she has broken from Biden on this issue so it will not be a continuation. He has condemned all pro-Palestine activity as anti-Semitic and has not spent much time talking about a two state solution or the need for a secure and separate Palestine. She has.

I think she should have had let the Palestinian-Americans have the floor at the convention or at the very least, personally gone to talk to them during the convention. I think she should give them a platform now.

I also don’t actually believe there will ever be peace in Israel - it is too important to too many religious zealots to not be a fucked situation. It was fucked before biblical times, it was fucked in biblical times, it was okay I guess for a while and then the whole western world decided to make it worse because Hitler.

What I have railed against and will continue to stand firm on is this notion that it’s absolutely the worst now because it’s not.

And I can’t accept that it’s possible to get worse than what is happening Gaza right now short of dropping an A bomb onto the whole systemic destruction and genocide.

It is kinda Ironic that an Irish American who lauds his ties to here considers pro Palestine’s as anti-Semitic when the very country to which he claiming to have such strong ties to is pretty much the only Western democracy that is overwhelmingly pro Palestinian. I don’t think he’d be getting the welcome he might be expecting if he came back here any time soon.

Finishing the job would be worse whether through an A Bomb or full throated American support. I do not doubt, in any shape matter or form, that should he be elected, and the war still be going on when he takes office that he will send troops to help finish the war.

This MAGA Nazi rally in MSG...holy shit. You've already got an insult comedian talk shit about Puerto Rico which caused Bad Bunny to come out and endorse Kamala to his 45 million Instagram followers and made Senator Rick Scott issue a hasty rejection of the jokes. And I think there's still a few more hours to go before Fuckface takes the stage.

It doesn’t matter, no bridge is too far. Half the country doesn’t give a shit how xenophobic, sexist, homophobic he is.
