I keep meaning to ask a couple of my Trumper co-workers if they are cool with Elon being a big part of our government moving forward. I mean, they hate electric cars and don't believe in outer space. (yes, we're under a dome they say)

Speaking of Israel, I heard Biden backed off on his threat to withhold aid if Israel didn't allow aid into Gaza. The aid wasn't allowed in, but Biden said Israel took steps in the right direction so we will continue to provide Israel with aid.

He's just there to strip the EPA (at first, probably other shit down the road) of any regulatory impendences to SpaceX/Tesla doing whatever the hell it wants. It's all about revenge for California/DC not playing nice with his companies for environmental concerns. DOGE (ugh) is just a way to skirt all the bureaucracy and is totally illegal and a horrible precedent to set, but the GOP doesn't give a shit and will happily burn it all down for a quick buck. My only hope is that the volatility of Trump and Musk will be too much and they'll turn on each other.

I wonder if anyone can be as effective as McConnell was. He is a giant piece of shit and probably one of the most influential politicians in the modern era because he was really good at being a piece of shit. Best we can hope for is a shitty person who isn’t necessarily effective at being a shitty person (much like Mike Johnson)

I had a friend yesterday who said that she's at the point where she wouldn't even care if McConnell died. Which is sad because she's been looking forward to that day for decades.

But the mild benefit is that for all the "good" he did for the GOP, his rocky embrace of Trump has turned his end into a don't let the door hit your ass on the way out kind of send-off. I don't know how well these nominees will keep the monkeys in the Senate united. But what I do know about all of them is that they are even worse than McConnell in some respects because they don't mind being yes men to Trump. McConnell was arrogant enough to wield his power as an equal of presidents and Trump does not abide sharing power.
