I’ve been doing exactly that for the last two months in the lead up to the election.

I have gone full no contact with my mother and about 1/4 of my family members on my mom’s side. They no longer have access to me or my family. They are firmly in the ‘find out’ phase of their hateful ‘fuck around’ period.

And. It. Feels. Great.

It’s sad, don’t get me wrong. And I am SO disappointed in all of them. But not having to hear, see, or try and change their ignorant rhetoric is honestly worth it. I had been trying for years to use logic, reason, evidence, and examples of impact on loved ones as a sort of plea for empathy. To no avail.

Those people are no longer friends nor family for me.

I regret nothing.
 
My wife had a bad relationship with her dad and step mom after her mom died. She’s been repairing the relationship with her dad for years now. As far as we know, that whole side of the family supports Trump as they were adamant about it in 2016. Somewhere along the way without talking about it, we all decided not to talk about it. Occasionally one of them will spout some dumbass conspiracy bullshit but no talk of politics. I think they know and are scared that talking about it will lose them access to their granddaughter so they just don’t. We don’t either. It was obvious from the few conversations we did have that neither side was gonna make any impact on the other. As long as that truce holds, I’ll play along but the second they bring any of that dumbass hate into my home or my daughter’s head… I will exile them with prejudice.

Sad, but understandable, @Nee Lewman. What a time we live in. Glad I’m old and childless. And have a great stereo, lots of awesome records and this website of like-minded and kindhearted folks. We will prevail.

The fact that they didn't get anything done in four years with respect to Trump's criminality and disqualifying him from office is the most Democratic Party thing ever.

I saw that Elon got appointed to "Department of Government Efficiency" and shared a "DOGE" meme on twitter to celebrate. We are living in the dumbest fascist era.

What was their reason for moving so slowly on the prosecutions again? I don't remember if they ever gave one.

Also, even if convicted I don't think this type of prosecution would prevent Trump from taking office again. It would have to have been the senate and Mitch McConnell made sure that didn't happen.
