It will start with illegals with a criminal history. Then they'll move on to people who missed their hearings. Then they'll move on to the people who have lived here for decades. The degrees of criminality won't matter. How productive of a person they are eventually won't matter. They will rip families apart and some will cheer it. Then they'll see how expensive goods and services will become.

They’ve said they won’t split up families and strongly implied this means they will deport the entire family.
 
Just had a discussion about tariffs with one of my bosses. (the Trump voting Nazi defending CFO)
I'm the purchaser here, and we use tens of thousands of import threaded fittings a year. (from China) I asked if the tariffs might push us to use a domestic manufacturer, which are historically about 3x the cost. He said no, the tariffs will only be around 20%. (not that he knows, but he's a know-it-all)
So I said, if the idea is for tariffs is to push us to use domestic, but domestic is still more expensive, all we are doing is paying more for the same goods. He had to agree. I kept my snark to a minimum.

Sure, that's where it will eventually end up. The first will be ones with violent records or are pending on criminal charges. Then they'll move to people who miss their hearings or stay past their expirations on their paperwork. Then they'll go get people who others "inform" on. A lot of that will happen and people who are here legally are going to be forced to prove their citizenship. If you are of Hispanic heritage, it would make a lot of sense to keep a passport on you at all times.

Trump's pick for the Department of Transportation hasn't been getting a lot of attention.


However, it is on sites like RailRoad.net. He was a DA and then spend the previous 8 years in the Wisconsin House of Representatives.

What is getting a lot of attention is his voting record there. Where he has voted to eliminate all funding for Amtrak.

He also appears ready to cancel every project started by Joe Biden's 2021 Infrastructure Bill for rail / Amtrak as well as other projects. He's aligned with Donald Trump for cutting the budget. And they are looking at "Sleep Joe Biden's" Infrastructure bill as a major failure citing that next to nothing has been build. The reason for this is because things move slowly. The project start off as studies and then go to engineering and take years before construction crews actually start working on them. That doesn't mean they are failures and we should cancel them all.

Amtrak has billions of dollars with of infrastructure updates to make due to years of deferred maintenance and safety upgrades still needed to be made. Additionally, their fleet is aging and is due for a complete turnover. All of this would be impossible if all the money from Biden's Infastructure bill get's pulled. Additional, much is true for many regional public transportation systems.
