Waiting 15 months to open an investigation into Jan 6 will be looked back upon as one of the most braindead fuckups in US history. Federal lung cancer screening guidelines say only those who smoked a pack or more a day for 20 or more years should be screened. And with that said, only people that meet that criteria have screening covered by insurance.
Healthcare professionals are saying it's not the amount of cigarets you smoke a day that matter, but the duration you smoked within your life. This current screening guidelines particularly hurt black people, who more often than not, if they were smokers were not smoking a pack a day. Maybe 3 cigarettes a day. Thus lung cancer screening wasn't covered by their insurance and is more often than not too expensive for them to get without insurance. This has resulted in black people dying at higher rates of lung cancer than white people.
In Massachusetts a hospital for women has been offering free lung cancer screenings for black women whose screenings are not covered by insurance because they didn't smoke a pack a day. And what they are finding is they are catching a lot of lung cancer or at people with that are very high risk of (something they saw on the scenes, forget what it I called) turning into cancer.
Based on these scans, and other studies, if you smoked for 20 or more years, there didn't appear to be a difference in risk whether or not you smoked 3 cigarettes a day or a pack or more a day.

According to NBC Boston, 1 of the 3 communities having a teacher strike has reached an agreement. A 4 year contract that includes a 14% salary increase spread out over the 4 years.
The teachers did not get as much of a raise as they were hoping nor were class size issues addressed. Additionally, the school district is saying layoffs may be necessary to compensate for the increased wages.
