Seriously through it has made me think about who to trust and where to put my faith.

Also we (I) can tolerate the occasional hyperbole that you bring along the more informed conservative aspect of your ideology. It’s good to have less conformity around here.
 
Trump is apparently testing the limits of power with the stimulus checks.

The physical checks will be signed with President Trump's signature.

This is unprecedented because are specifically not allowed to sign government checks.

While I appreciate the sentiment, my absence in this thread has little to do with y’all’s reactions to my views, and everything to do with my reactions to y’all.

I could very likely have these conversations with any of y’all individually, in person, and we would be able to have a reasonable, friendly, though likely spirited discussion. (Just ask @Teeeee.)

An online group setting such as message boards or social media apps makes that type of interaction nearly impossible by its very nature. I believe the lack of the nonverbal communication humans require is a large part of that. I also believe that if you look at what’s happened to politics in the age of the internet and social media, you will find all the evidence you need to see the validity of my position.

The internet is great for bringing folks together to talk about inconsequential things and giving folks a window into the the lives of others around the world. The big issues and politics still need to be discussed in person.

it's funny though because all of these people who want to open the economy up are probably still going to be sitting in their Ivory Towers for a while, I don't see GOP congressmen and other politicians going out to shops and gyms and theaters. Because they know that they need the working class to make money.

Wasn't it just this very week that he said it was solely up to him and he had complete authority?

Honestly, what has he/his administration actually done for the nation during this virus that was actually helpful? This is a sincere question. Because, from what I see, it has all been led/accomplished by our local leaders.

What he is doing is actually quite savvy strictly from a PR standpoint (from almost ever other standpoint it is callow and feckless). By claiming ownership yet ceding responsibly it allows him to say that every thing worked and mitigated loss of life or helped the economy recover was all him, but anything that doesn’t go well he can easily shift blame to the Governors. Most people will only see the sound bites of him either pretending to swing his “big” dick or of him casting the blame to others. It gives him cover.

Oh absolutely. You and I and most of us here are smart enough to see through his con game. He's a miserable POS.

But I was honestly trying to put my hatred of the "man" aside and think of just one thing, even tiny, that he's accomplished during this time. I couldn't come up with anything.
