Political Discussion

I think that's kinda the point: Trump's daring Congress to defy him. It's a way to parse out loyalists from dissenters, and could impose a Constitutional crisis before he's even sworn in if they try to circumvent protocol to get folks in sooner.
it is absolutely a test and one that this republican congress is going to fail. he's absolutely picking poor choices based strictly on the one metric he cares about: will they do what i tell them to when i tell them, unquestioningly. no one with ideals, no patriots, no scholars, no "but the constitution prohibits this", no "this is 100% illegal" complainers. the lesson he took from pence and the "all i need is to find 11000 votes" fiasco was "don't hire anyone with a brain or a spine, you need all yesmen all the time".

Reports are that when he picked Gaetz, he did it on the plane ride to the White House while Wiles was in another room. Lol

My prediction is these tariffs that everyone is talking about will backfire "bigly". Once the average joe who voted for the Leopards realize how much of their face will be eaten by them when they're paying double/triple for some things they'll back off on them. I think @ayayrawn mentioned it earlier. All these cabinet announcements reminds us how incompetent everyone is and has me less worried. If Trump and co were competent I'd be extremely worried. Still worried, but less so that I thought.

Everyone was angry about grocery prices. I think this is going to be Trump's Achilles heel. On the campaign trail he promised over and over that he will get grocery prices down. Not only is that not likely to happen, the best we can hope for is them to remain flat for awhile / have slow growth but his policies all but ensure grocery prices will continue to grow.

AP had an article about this yesterday. And experts are thinking we are going to be shellshocked for how much groceries prices grow over Trumps presidency.

His supporters will have no one else to blame but him. Although I do think they or he will find ways to blame Democrats again

This will be my reaction to people who knowingly voted for Trump or Jill Stein and then complain about bad shit happening to them or people they care about. You voted for this.

Unfortunately that's how it'll go.

I saw a post from an acquaintance that said "Trump has already done more in a week than Harris did in four years." It's ridiculous of course.
But I am continually stunned at how much people love this guy. Like, I get it, you want cheap gas and lower grocery prices. But to idolize him, pretend he's infallible, and act like he's already making a big difference in their lives is kinda crazy.

Others have already said it to, but I think you are vastly underestimating how easy it is for them to convince their followers that absolutely everything is someone else's fault.
