Political Discussion

What people should be most concerned about right now is why exactly the Republicans and Trump have removed the heads of the Pentagon and other military agencies today and installed people totally loyal to Trump. Because that is page one of the dictatorship manual.
I think they are trying to cover some shit up before The Biden’s team ends up with security clearance. The positions they have turned over are more on the civilian side than the military side. While it’s still shitty and criminal I don’t think it’s coup related. They thought the Obama administration was spying on them, and while they cried foul you can sure as shit assume it gave them the excuse to do some illegal business. Now they wanna go hide it al before anyone gets a chance to investigate.

I kid you not, this news shook me up and as you know, I don't even live in the US. Your interpretation makes me feel better (relatively speaking, of course - a coup is a much much greater concern than political spying fuckery, though that should never be excused either).

I was having flashes of them making dealings the remdesivir manufacturer for whatever reason and naming their new country after them.

Agreed and Brexit is a weak analogy. Whatever you think of the EU, and despite the best efforts of some on the continent, it is thankfully not the equivalent of a United States of Europe, it’s a union of different nation states. Britain didn’t secede from the EU it left a common interest bloc that it had never fully integrated in (no to Shengen, Mastrict, Euro and their rebait etc).

Scotland‘s attempted secession from the U.K. would be a more a more apt example on the peaceful end and the likes of Catalonia on the messier side and well there are several more that move into the more violent end of things.

Independence can’t come quick enough...

I'm a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. I cannot tell you how many times I was brought into a company to do exactly this. Once you go through the whole process efficiency exercises, oftentimes it follows logically that certain positions either need to be re-worked and re-assigned or eliminated altogether. :(

That and/or kneecapping Biden by removing any civilian officials with any actual expertise before a transition can begin. The analysis I’ve read says the danger here is not one of Trump making a power grab, but of destabilizing our intelligence and armed services during the transition of power, potentially making the country more vulnerable than it needs to be.

That's exactly what I read in an opinion piece last night.

The end goal here is to replace these officials with Trump loyalists. Many of these positions would be very difficult for biden to replace once he's in office if not impossible without stooping to the level of corruption Trump did.

They are trying to pack the government with Trump Loyalists / Conservatives to obstruct biden / democrats policies and retain control as much of the government as possible.

If it happens do you think readmission to the EU will be a certainty or do you think the Spanish will throw a spanner into the works because of Catalonia. I think new admissions have to be unanimous?
Lots of horse trading going on in the media about this, but we are hearing better news from Spain. It’s definitely an issue, but it’s sounding better than it was.

Fuck my student loans.

My personal iMac which is 8 years old died. I only have my work provided Macbook Pro now. So I want to get a new personal Mac.

Apple offers monthly installment plans through Apple Card. I can easily afford the installment payments. Basically, the installment plan would just offset the installment plan of my iPhone XS MAX which is paid off in another month.

However, to get the installment plan, you have to be approved for an Apple Card, which is through Goldman Sachs Bank.

Because I have defaulted student loans, I'm not considered creditworthy. My application for the Apple Card was declined because of "serious delinquency" on my credit report.

do you need a mac for some reason?

I was gifted a macbook pro in 2009 when I graduated high school. It lasted me a good long time up until 2017 when it was just not performing well and took forever to do basic tasks. I wanted another macbook myself, but didn't want to shell out $1000+ for a new one. I ended up buying a cheap, but decent quality Acer laptop along with an upgraded internal memory card. Both were about $400 total. The internal memory card was easy to add manually, just pop open the back of the laptop and add it. I moved all windows programs to the internal memory card which allows every program to run INSANELY fast. I can turn on my computer and have all startup programs launched in less than 10 seconds. I don't miss having a mac honestly.

Try affirm. I have been happy with their services.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but if Trump can just fire and replace these people, can't Biden do the same once he gets in office?

I like the Mac ecosystem, and a lot of the professional software I own is for Mac Only. It's not available on Windows, so not only would I have to look into new software, I would have to purchase new software which would quickly make the switching over to windows more expensive.

I don't think so, not without cause or bullying them into a resignation.

The democrats won't cross that line. And if they do, they for sure will be calls for impeachment.

Yeah, especially the ones that he’s replaced post election. The things he would have the most issues with are FBI, CIA, etc... anything that’s not a cabinet position can fairly easily be replaced without much issue.

Beneficial to whom though?
I mean I get you, but it’s better than just yelling to hear the echoes. It’s a start and if more of us engaged with our government outside of elections.... we might actually get some crap done. I’m also trying to be somewhat polite to keep from just being another trolling comment, I know this is not the most effective engagement but it’s a start.
