You didn’t miss anything. He had a comment history on some other sites that showed a different side of his personality, that’s all. As he has grown more free with his views on Twitter, he has made himself more anonymous there.
That’s what makes this all so insidious, right? Not knowing whether the guy you’re ranking U2 albums with is a Proud Boys enthusiast in his off hours is the whole problem. Joe didn’t *do* anything, except leave too many bread crumbs back to some of the other stuff he liked to talk about on the Internet.
My wife and I were talking about this recently in light of the election, this feeling of not knowing who is actually a friend...and she reminded me that as a white male it’s a little rich for me to describe this experience as if it’s not something that people likely her have dealt with for their entire lives.
