Political Discussion

My man, Bernie..

Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) are teaming up to push for a vote on a second round of stimulus checks — an unusual alliance that underscores the wide political spectrum that supports more direct payments.

The two senators introduced a proposal on Thursday that would provide a second $1,200 stimulus check to individuals who make up to $75,000, mirroring language included in the March CARES Act.
Hawley and Sanders are pledging to try to force a vote, either as part of a weeklong stopgap bill that needs to pass by Friday night or the dual government funding and coronavirus relief negotiations that need to be resolved by Dec. 18.

It feels weird being on same side of an issue as Josh Hawley. That guy is usually wrong about everything. I hope Bernie can force a vote on this as there is no way this would not pass if given a vote.

All 17 AG's are Republicans as well. Surprise surprise.

It's funny that they keep trying the same shenanigans that keep failing over and over because there is nothing there. Just different groups keep file lawsuits. It's not going to go anywhere. I'm wondering if their game to keep the appearance of a disputed election through January.

I was terrified to see this on NBC and online. But then I reread the content and extent of what the AG actions' of those 17 states would entail. They are the same lawsuits.
Isn't this the textbook definition of insanity?

I know the judges he appointed are socially conservative which is why I usually disagree with them. However, none of them seemed scummy enough to even touch this ridiculous case.
That’s the funny thing, during his administration Trump has appointed a record number of federal judges (like over 200) thankfully Trump only cared about the actual number and allowed for the choices to be made by Federalist Society types meaning instead of appointing bunch of sycophant judges as would be Trump’s normal setting, lots of Conservative Constitutionalists were appointed. They care more about a strict interpretation of Constitution than pleasing Trump. Meaning all these “Trump Judges” that he thought were gonna bail him out because of loyalty have been continually telling his campaign to GTFO.

All of these people who he appointed to be a judge, they don’t care about him anymore. He got him what they wanted power and influence and now he’s getting burned.

It’s too bad that you (Trump) are in a little bit of a pickle but I can’t help you anymore. Why would they though? Why touch that sinking ship?

even though I'm glad they didn't want to high jump over the rules they went to school for, there are still a ton of terrible people in the US courts right now that I don't trust for shit. I gotta laugh at the stuff coming out of Parler this second to keep from crying, but I'll echo one thing they are saying- stay vigilant!

let's do some work y'all. blood loss is stemmed, but we gotta keep applying pressure.

Some of you may know I am big AOC stan. Rarely do we see a highly intelligent, compassionate, grass roots political activist make such a profound impact on our governmental systems. Add to that fact her strategic and prolific use of social media outlets and you have a person who can speak to the current generations effectively and meet them where they live/hang/etc. She’s a dynamo.

If you have a spare hour, watch this video. It is a masterclass on empathy, contextual communication, and effectiveness in messaging. She presents the concepts and realities of current political situations in a completely accessible way. I love it.
