It's been quiet since the inauguration here at work, until today. My co-workers currently have mixed feelings. They say Biden is out, and Kamala is in as president; changes are happening today because Joe is showing signs of cognitive disability, so the transfer of power is underway as we speak. They hate Biden but are also racist and misogynist so they are conflicted. I mean, really they just want Trump back in.
Tell them Biden is Jimmy Woo's protected witness and that Kamala will be a quasi-mentor to the Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Dr. Strange sequel. Ask them whether they think The Vision AKA as "White Vision" will be the one to escort Trump back into the Oval Office or if it'll be Mephisto. It's been quiet since the inauguration here at work, until today. One of my slightly right leaning friends made me put a reminder in my calendar that if Kamala was sworn in as president by the end of 2022 I owe him $20. He believes all the "senile old man" takes on Biden and thinks he's just a Trojan Horse to break the seal on the first woman president. **shake my head**My dad who isn't specifically a trumper but just a 100% boomer fox news kind of guy told me last November that he guaranteed Kamala would be sworn in as president by June 2021 so there's still time. Of all the crazy conspiracies floating around this one is the most tenable. I mean, I don't think Pelosi would fall on that particular sword but the actual mechanisms for it to happen do actually exist.
It is really sad...but these are people who cheered when Trump made fun of a handicapped guy, so I know exactly where they stand. This whole thing about his mental health is discouraging. People who have a Speech Language Impairment such as stuttering have fluency problems when speaking, it not just about repeating a syllable. There are a lot of processes that go into communication. Just a person had difficulty with one aspect doesn’t mean that the rest are not in tack.
ha, I have come at them with facts, sarcasm, sillyness...none of it really changes things for them. I'm still waiting for them to admit Trump didn't have the ballots watermarked.Tell them Biden is Jimmy Woo's protected witness and that Kamala will be a quasi-mentor to the Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Dr. Strange sequel. The humor/re-affirmation of reality is more for us, I think. I have no idea how to really break through to someone who chooses to identify with those theories and thinking. It is really sad...but these are people who cheered when Trump made fun of a handicapped guy, so I know exactly where they stand.

Today I just said: "Wow, really? Big changes. When is this happening?"
One of them said "Right now. Even Biden's doctor says he shouldn't be in office."
I’m sorry, but I have to call shenanigans on the whole stutter thing regarding Biden. Compare the speeches and recordings of Biden prior to the Obama administration to the recordings of him in the last couple of years. Take a look at the recordings of him in the Senate back during the Clinton administration when he was advocating for the 94 crime bill. He was sharp as a tack. As much as I may disagree with his politics, the man was highly intelligent and highly adept add using his speeches to be very persuasive. I have a bit of a stutter and stammer, and it becomes more pronounced when I’m thinking really fast and trying to have my words keep up with my brain. That’s not what’s going on with Biden. Here is my issue with this whole debate; Biden certainly isn’t as sharp as he was 20 or even 10 years ago; lots folks will decline cognitively as the approach 80. A cognitive decline could effect you stutter or stammer as most that are born with that affliction have to work to keep it in check, meaning and if you aren’t as sharp you may not be able utilize the tools that were in place when you were a younger person to avoid stuttering . All that to say just because he does stutter or stammer or lose his train of thought occasionally also doesn’t mean is now some sort of mush brained paint drinking simpleton either. An ideal situation President’s would not be octogenarian when they end their first term in office but just because they are also doesn’t mean they can’t be affective leaders.I’m sorry, but I have to call shenanigans on the whole stutter thing regarding Biden. I totally agree with this. I just feel like it’s also fair to point out that there is silliness on both sides regarding his cognitive state. While he is certainly past his prime he is also not licking windows either. But the debate isn’t about his stutter. That is the way it is being framed by those who wish to excuse away obvious and overt instances of the man losing self awareness of when and where he is mid-sentence. I’m not trying to give credence to there being some plot to replace him and install Harris as the president because she wasn’t able to get elected on her own. I am simply saying that to deny that Biden is experiencing cognitive decline, as is not uncommon with 80-year-old people, is ridiculous to the point of being laughable. It is an utter denial of the obvious reality. The man ain’t all there, all the time.
We were given the choice between a 78 y/o and a 74 y/o. Our leader experiencing normal cognitive decline was inevitable either way you sliced this one. Maybe we should all look at that the next time around. But the debate isn’t about his stutter. Hell, I think there is a legitimate case to be made that even electing a man in serious cognitive decline was still the better option. I just push back against people trying to deny an obvious reality.I don’t think it’s a good look and it reflects poorly upon one’s ability to sincerely make the case for their other positions. We were given the choice between a 78 y/o and a 74 y/o. As for the conspiracy, we already knew that Harris could become our first woman president by default just due to Biden's age. This isn't new. Why are people a.) making this into a conspiracy and on the other hand, b.) upset that this is a conspiracy theory? This idea was widely circulated during the campaign--both the whole Biden could step down to give Harris the presidency and that Biden, at 78, is the oldest president of the U.S.

Basically I think my point here is that if one wants others to take their ideas seriously, don’t piss on my leg and try and tell me it’s raining.

I guess my original post was not about a overall cognitive decline, but more about how the presentation of cognitive abilities in one area do not necessarily mean pervasive cognitive decline or even decline in other areas. Difficulties in word retrieval does not mean he is having deficits in processing verbal and visual information translating them to ideas and assimilating them to create logical ideas.
In the abstract, that’s a very valid point. Hell, I think I come across decently well in text, but if you get me going in person, there will be times I’ll have to stop and start a sentence over because I get my words so jumbled. I’ve even developed a bit of a mnemonic where I say out loud “if only my brain and mouth could communicate with each other I could speak a complete sentence” as sort of a mental reset.I guess my original post was not about a overall cognitive decline, but more about how the presentation of cognitive abilities in one area do not necessarily mean pervasive cognitive decline or even decline in other areas. In this specific case, I have to deny its application. With regard to President Biden, the stutter talking point was put out there by his handlers and surrogates as a disingenuous argument to gaslight those who raised legitimate questions about the cognitive state of candidate Biden.
To contrast to the other candidates of a similar age, the questions of cognitive state were either not raised or quickly dismissed. Anyone would be hard pressed to make the case that Bernie isn’t as sharp as he ever was. Even I who think his ideas are complete trash wouldn’t try to make the case he’s slipping. President Biden obviously and undeniably is.
I guess it’s a good thing none of those people are in this conversation, eh?There is a visible decline. This decline may have affected his fluency and not other areas of his cognition. Maybe the stuttering was a convenient excuse that they used. However considering the difficulty people when understanding the complexity of people with disabilities and mental health problems. I find it ironic coming from people who supported the jumble of nonsense that came out of Trump’s mouth for the past 6 or so years.
