The I-40 bridge in Memphis has been shut down due to a structural crack. When the Hernando de Soto 'M' bridge will reopen is unknown.

Yet fixing it is "wasteful spending" in the order of trillians and will result in "devastating tax increases". Oh, and is the "socialist agenda".

We are so screwed when it comes to fixing our infrastructure.

My guess is the current bill gets split up into a “traditional” infrastructure bill and then a more wishlist type bill they try to pass through a simple majority reconciliation vote. Biggest hang up I see with the traditional package is how to pay for it. Biden wants to foot the bill by raising the tax rate on businesses and the upper class. The Right is not a big fan there.

That happens with any bill.

But for many Republicans, anything public transportation wise in a infrastructure bill is extra wishlist bullshit socialist crap.

I hate that public transportation money is often the first to see cuts on the negotiation table.

Just get me a reliable train for when I need to start commuting back into Boston.
