Political Discussion

Amazon has launched RxPass, a monthly subscription that is only $5 a month if you have prime.

It's only a small lists of generics but could probably help some people. None of my medications or conditions are listed, so it's not for me, but I hope someday there is a solution like this that is cheaper than going through insurance.
I mean the flonase is cheaper than my Costco with a prescription, but I only pay two more dollars a bottle without a script. It damn near cost half of my five month supply for one month without a script.

If you’re a Prime member and paying more that $5 a month for all of your medications, RxPass could help you save. RxPass isn’t insurance, but it can be helpful for those without insurance, or when insurance doesn’t cover certain medications. Many people with diabetes, high blood pressure, and anxiety will find their medications are eligible with RxPass.

Anxiety? I don't see that condition listed, I guess the condition is "Mental Health". But I don't see Fluoxetine or Propronalol listed.

I did just find my cholesterol and blood pressure meds.

With Express Scripts, all 4 medications are about $15 a month together at CVS. So if I could get all 4 for $5 a month that would cut my monthly bill by 2/3s. I am I reading it right that it's $5 a month no matter how many prescriptions you have, or is it $5 per prescription?

It seems things are escalating with Russia.

And now with Biden saying the US is going to send takes to Russia, something Germany had just announced it planed to do. Tensions are rising with Rusia, who considered this an act of war and promises there will be consequences.

The risk of Nuclear war right now is higher than it ever was during the cold war according to some experts.

“I cannot put partisan loyalty ahead of national security, and I cannot simply recognize years of service as the sole criteria for membership on this essential committee. Integrity matters more,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries that he posted on Twitter Tuesday night.

McCarthy stripped democrats from being on the national security committee because they voted to impeach Trump because that action shows partisan loyalty over national notional security. I'm sorry McCarthy, but if anyone is showing "partisan loyalty ahead of national security" it is you sir.

McDonald’s, In-N-Out, and Chipotle are spending millions to block raises for their workers

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Why not just give those millions spent as raises to your employees.

Sadly, money does all the talking. $200 Million was enough to persuade voters back in 2020 to except companies like Uber and Lyft from having to classify their workers as employees instead of independent contractors.

I'm pretty sure the Fast Food industry is confident they can win this. All they have to do is put enough messaging out there that this will raise costs of food. And close locations across the states.

Because 200M is cheaper than raising their wages. The only weapon we have against the capitalist class is withholding labor. Even capitalists recognize this.

The fact that abortion is once again even a topic for debate has me done. Just done.

Ohio passing laws.
Alabama passing worse laws.

All leading up to an inevitable S.C. case which I have zero faith in.
Second post in this thread and I’m just thinking about the events of the last SCOTUS session… sorry, it’s my first time on this thread since 2020, I think.

Remember last year when a mom was denied entry to see the Rockettes because of where she worked when facial recognition software ID her? The Rockettes were a subsidy of Madison Square Garden, who bans any lawyer with active litigation against them from their properties. This mom wasn't involved in the case, but the law firm in which she worked for did.

Well, MSG is now doubling down on using facial recognition software to bar lawyers with active litigation against them access to their property.

Company says it's company policy to not allow these lawyers access, and that they have been notified that they are not allowed to trespass on MSG properties.

Only thing is, MSG is large. So in the case of the mother, she didn't know the Rockettes were a subsidy of MSG, and while the company she worked for was notified that they are banned from MSG properties, she didn't realize it applied to her because she didn't have any active litigation against MSG.

The chief executive of the Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation has doubled down on using facial recognition at its venues to bar lawyers suing the group from attending events.

Speaking to Fox 5 on Thursday, MSG Executive Chairman and CEO James Dolan said Madison Square Garden is a private company and therefore entitled to determine who is allowed to enter its venues for events.

“At Madison Square Garden, if you’re suing us, we’re just asking of you – please don’t come until you’re done with your argument with us,” he said. “And yes, we’re using facial recognition to enforce that.”

One of the biggest things baby boomers think about this is that this law is highly unfair. It targets fast food workers only. They are like, you are telling me that fast food workers are going to have a minimum wage of $22 where skilled workers with a degree may have a starting salary of $17 an hour. Why do fast food workers, unskilled labor, deserve to make more.

I have a feeling that on the general election in 2024, this increase of minimum wage just for fast food workers is not going to pass.

Having books in the classroom that are not pre-approved by the state DOE is a felony in Florida now?

Yada yada, parents rights and the law is for teachers protections. This is not a book ban, if you listen to the rights propaganda.

Anything that's an "uncomfortable subject", whether it has to do with race, LGBTQ or what not are not allowed in the the classroom. And any book that has not yet been vetted by the DOE are not allowed either.

This law just went into effect in Florida, championed by Desantos and teachers are scrambling to remove books from the classroom.

They are two busy to do this. I doubt most of those schools even have a librarian.
That's a whole other scenario that is impacted by this law.

In this case, it's books teachers have in their own classroom that is the subject of the scramble. The books either need to be removed from said classroom, or given to the school library to catalog and determine whether or not the book is on the pre-approved list before being returned to the teacher and put back out in the classroom.

Any teacher with a book in their classroom that has not been pre-approved could be charged with a felony.

The books in the official school libraries likely have already been vetted and cataloged against allowed booked. But if they haven't, they face the same issue.

As a Canadian (Who certainly isn't innocent of this sort of patriotism) who moved the rural South, I've always had concerns about the othering of people because of where they live. Once I started learning America isn't the only free nation, that the wars we fight aren't altruistic or even justified in many cases, all the "We're number one!" stuff really started to make me uncomfortable.

I kid you not. I just read a Baby Boomers rant against "annual physicals" and how they should not exist.

His rant was started by insurance premiums going up because people were actually using their benefits. And he went on about how he never understood annual physicals. If you are healthy they are no more than going in and having a chat with your doctor. And your doctor ordering this or that lab to try to make additional profits. That these "chats" are not needed, and certainly should not be paid for by insurance as insurance should only be for covering the catastrophics. And because annual physicals are usually no more than a chat, there is no need for the doctor do them. They could be done by a nurse or a telemed call should you insisted on having one which is much more affordable.

Oh look a person with a fundamental misunderstanding of how every part of what they're ranting against works.

This is not the first time I have heard that insurance is only for catastrophic coverage, and not for routine healthcare. I've seen people explain what insurance is, and that the idea of using insurance for routine healthcare contradicts the definition of what insurance is.

While for sure this person has a fundamental misunderstanding of healthcare and the purpose of regular routine visits. Is the rant about insurance being used for things other than catatophics really a misunderstanding To me it seems more like an ideology that differs from what you and me have.

It's pretty much you have insurance for when you have a heart attack or are involved in a car accident and get a big medical bill. And should not be used for routine care because that's not in the spirit of what insurance is and making a profit off it's business model. Got to love capitalism
