This is why America was restricting how Ukraine could respond, fear of Nuclear response.

People keep sticking to tariff talk and not recognizing so much of our food is imported. I just don’t see how they can possibly roll out tariffs without destroying the illusion of the “good at economy” myth
All of their plans would/will cause an economic collapse here. It's one thing that across the political spectrum in economics most agree on. It works well in other countries that haven't fully globalized their economies because they haven't given up the self sufficiency yet. We have. Like you mention most of our food is imported. Food prices would skyrocket if they do flat tariffs across the board. Targeted ones that are slowly rolled out might mitigate the adjustment period, but I'm pretty skeptical of that given the current economic situation here. We can get back to self-sufficient economics but it will not be easy and will wipe out another generation of American workers by giving us the screw. It will also foster increased international tensions, since it is economic interdependence that is largely responsible for the postwar consensus we've been living in.

Plus with Elon saying that things are going to get really hard on the middle class for a while, I think they know full well that they're going to tank the economy. It's another way for them to do a massive wealth transfer from what little the masses still have. The plan has long been to turn us into a fully rent based society where we can't ever own anything. It's the slavery of control through economics rather than force. Much like what the US did to the world after WWII, they're now using that strategy on us.

And the thing I hate about this is most people don't understand this, especially boomer.

I'm never going to be able to own a home, I'll be stuck renting the rest of my life. And according to most boomers, it's because of poor life choices I made, not because of factors outside of my control. I keep hearing over and over it's because:
  • I chose to go to college and take on student loan debt I couldn't afford to pay back.
  • I choose to live in an area with a high cost of living. I could move to a rural red state and afford a house.
  • It's because I spend my money on luxuries like a $1,000 iPhone every 3 years that I don't need
  • It's because I choose to not have a roommate and I'm living in an apartment where the rent is above my means (rent is higher than 30% of sallary).

And any time I try to make an argument about how this is all result of policy I am told "I do everything to blame everyone else but me." and "All I hear is excuses instead of you taking personal accountability for your situation".

I think it’s mostly all talk. Big spooky scary economic policies to hog the headlines while they do dumber shit in the shadows. Same plan as the first admin
