Political Discussion

Literally can't wait for this ghoul to bite it.
Would Kamala Harris be better? Or are we wishing death on the entire administration?

Mike Johnson the Speaker who went to Columbia University yesterday, and called for the University President who has essentially been attempting to appease the hard right to step down, while also suggesting that the state should call in the National Guard on the peaceful protestors. Johnson would be 3rd in line he would definitely need to pass on as well.

Maybe Washington State Senator President pro tempore Patty Murray? Though she did vote for the $14B in aid to go to Israel. No, you’ll probably need her to kick the bucket too.

Blinken? Dead
Yellen? Probably RIP
Lloyd Austin? definitely a corpse
Merrick Garland? Meet his maker
Harland?, Vilsack?, Rainmondo? That’s a trio of death.

We are starting to run out of people to wish death on (and this is mostly the “liberal” party).

Umm, let’s see… Julie Su she maybe? The secretary of labor hasn’t really held any elected office. Not sure she has taken a a stance on the subject yet and she is only the “acting secretary” since the Senate won’t confirm her for being too progressive. Maybe she will do. Let’s hope so as Mayor Pete and Jennifer Granholm are not gonna get it done either.

In all seriousness, Biden isn’t doing enough to stop the assault on Gaza. It all feels fairly hopeless.

Is now a good time to say that I think that the idea of an eternal or fundamental set of human rights is bullshit? They don’t derive from god or nature or anywhere. Unfettered freedom is an an anarchic state of nature type existence. We give this freedom up to be part of a coherent and governed society that “protects” from the anarchy. The rights have derive only from a conversation between us and the systems that govern us determined on the lives we wish, as a society, to lead. Also no right should be unlimited otherwise it can negatively affect the more important rights of others...
I pick @Joe Mac to draft our new constitution. I'll edit it to add in more communism, but otherwise this sounds like a good start.

🤬
See, the problem is he was too rapey and the judge shouldn’t have allow the jury be tainted by all the other rapes. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. Hopefully they will re-prosecute.

Another problem is the way our current system is set up, it's nearly impossible to get a conviction without all that other evidence / testimony being allowed in. It to often is just his word against hers, and beyond a reasonable doubt can't be reached.

Our system sucks for prosecuting people who commit rape.

As I read the updates to the Supreme Court presidential immunity trial, my mind instantly goes back to the first thought I had when I heard the theory the Trump team is standing on. And that is, if the court finds in favor of Presidential immunity, the thought will at least have to cross Biden's mind that he should immediately order the military to take out Trump and the Supreme Court or democracy is effectively over in America. You'd get an authoritarian and fascist government either way. If he doesn't do that, then he'd be responsible for orchestrating a peaceful transition to a dictator and the end of democracy with a loss in the November election. If he wins, then the issue hangs over our heads because if you let them do it, eventually someone will get in office who does. Hands down the case that holds the most power over our collective future in our lifetimes. And this extends beyond America as the ripples will be felt everywhere.

Our future worries the hell out of me, even if it seems like the court isn't likely to buy this argument.
