“Mr. Myers and his family are devastated by this tragedy and the fact that it resulted in the loss of a young man’s life,”

I dunno, maybe stay in your car and mind your fucking business. This fear for my life argument is exhausted and needs to be retired. I’m fearful of some gun-happy-half-educated nut job shooting me based on their racist beliefs, does that give me grounds to go around shooting people?!

Starting to think we have a people problem and not just the guns.
He’s in Washington State, not Florida that “Stand Your Ground” bullshit don’t fly here… well, unless you’re a cop.

Reading this article made me sick. This guy murdered a child by shooting him in the back and sounds like he's been getting off on this kind of fantasy for years. It's beyond disgusting that these hate filled idiots are not only tolerated but encouraged by a large and influential segment of American culture.

Don't get me wrong: there's a mental health crisis in this country that's symptomatic of our failed healthcare system as a whole, and there are major issues with politics in the face of the 24-hour news cycle which make it profitable to foment fear and pit us against one another.

I just think people would have fewer opportunities to immediately annihilate one another without the guns.

For all the work I do on mental health, and agreeing that it's still a huge problem, there are so many mentally ill people who aren't getting guns and aren't violent to anyone. It's turning into a crutch to avoid the gun problem. Most shooters are not mentally ill. They're sick, but not sick.

so yeah, Elon is trying to demand money back from laid off employees while at the same time he's being rerewarded the stock awards the courts stuck down.

A federal judge has blocked the Biden administration from enforcing new federal protections for LGBTQ+ students in four GOP-led states.

The preliminary injunction issued Thursday by US District Judge Terry Doughty prevents the Biden administration from implementing the new protections – which are set to take effect August 1 – in Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana and
Idaho.

The judge said that the order will remain in effect until the states’ lawsuit is resolved or a higher court permits enforcement of the new rules.

The lawsuit is one of more than half a dozen challenging the new changes to Title IX, the 1972 federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination at schools that receive federal aid.

Among other things, the changes aim to curb discrimination “based on sex stereotypes, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics,” according to the department.

The new rules require schools to protect students from all sex discrimination, including sexual violence and sex-based harassment, expanding that definition to include discrimination based on pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions like childbirth, termination of pregnancy or recovery from pregnancy. Compliance with the new rules is required to receive federal education aid.

The lawsuit brought by the GOP-led states argues that the Biden administration overstepped its authority in finalizing the new rule. The plaintiffs are asking Doughty to strike down the rules nationwide.

This follows the presidence that the SCOTUS states has set, which is essentially, the executive branch or departments don't have any authority to make or enforce policy changes, only congress does. The GOP is pretty much using this to their advantage with any policy they don't agree with.

Clearly this is what our founders intended when they wrote the 2nd Amendment. We can all sleep easier now knowing the government will allow its citizens to protect themselves from a tyrannical government by easily allowing psychos to subvert laws banning fully automatic weapons. Well, we can sleep easier as long as we don’t have to visit any open areas where a sniper could be present.

Total normal country we live in.

Could you imagine if people addicted to drugs lied on application to legally purchase a firearm! Thats the real threat to society. I clutched my pearls so forcefully they’ve turned to dust.

His mistake was not buying a gun on the secondary market or at a gun show.
Not just drugs, but marijuana where it's legal in the applicants state.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow use his conviction to do away with background checks. The slippery slope argument being “IF DRUG ADDICTS CAN BUY THEM THEN WHAT GOOD ARE ANY RESTRICTIONS.”

So I follow Fox 25 Boston on Instagram, and yesterday one of their posts was.

"Breaking: Brazen daytime shooting in the Seaport District", no further information in the post other than link to story in bio was mentioned.

But wow, the comments.

Lot's of questions asking if this shooting occurred where they are housing the migrants or saying that this must be where it happened. And even more assumptions that illegals are somehow involved / to blame and that this is why we need to secure our border. And "Wu's Boston" was another top comment. Hatred for the democrat who's currently mayor. There was also endless talk about how illegals are rapists and criminals and we need to protect our country.

Very few people corrected the commenters or called them out for their shit. And those that did were attacked with counter arguments about illegals being rapists and criminals.

What actually happened. A 18 year old girl was shot at a high school graduation ceremony by another student. Both were citizens.

Hopefully (unlikely) these judicial “rulings” will remind people of what will happen in another 4 years of Trump and a GOP senate. More Ideological judges who will rule based purely on political and personal lines, being appointed to the bench for several more generations of fuckery.

…(my expectations are very low however)
