Pre-Order Thread

I would say if there's a repress, it would probably be a different color / standard black and this is just the first wave. As much as I enjoy this album, it's not at the very top of my list of new releases I want to get whenever I have the money. If it's still around in a few months in some capacity (colored variant or not), I'll definitely want to get it. But how long has it been on sale / up to pre-order? Because if that number is right, they've already sold nearly 400 copies, which is fairly impressive imo, for how relatively obscure they still seem to be.

Down to 572

I think these are selling

Copped Vulfpeck. Listened to the album and honestly its a better listen then I thought. Never ordered from Qrates before so hope it goes well.

Btw anyone got info on the quality of Vulf pressings? Should I expect GZ or something better?
I have a few of their albums and they always sound great to me! The only issue I had with Qrates was somehow my shipping address got changed and it got sent to some older guy in Bay Ridge and he called me and said “I’ve received your damn record 3 times now even though I wrote return to sender!!” It took forever to get it back because they had to ship it back to the U.K. and then back out to me again...but I eventually received it safe and sound!

I've done the last 2 from Qrates and they sound pretty good to me. There's a 99.9% chance of a seem split though, once they start shipping there's always an uproar on reddit.
I ordered The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter from Qrates. It arrived in perhaps the worst condition I’ve ever seen, record was terribly warped. I emailed them and they were kind enough to send a second copy, which I received today. Unfortunately, it was shipped with the same shitty packaging, and this is what I got. I’m asking for a refund now.

So i Always avoided to dig deeper into stereolab. Can anyone recommend starting Point and essential Albums?

They were brought up in the How do I get into ____? thread yesterday and these were the two responses
Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots and Loops are where I started.
Start with Mars Audiac Quintet. If you find yourself drawn to the driven guitars

i started with Emperor too, but it didn’t really appeal to me. I tried Mars Audiac Quintet next, and found it to be the perfect blend of guitar and keyboard driven Motorik. The albums prior are more guitar based, and the albums after are more keyboard based. MAC finds the perfect balance between the two, IMHO.

My point of entry was Dots and Loops, so that has max nostalgia for me. But over the years, I've gravitated towards Emperor Tomato Ketchup more frequently.

I'm not gonna overwhelm you by telling you what I think about every album, but I'd say my top three would be this, with the top two both #1:

1. Emperor Tomato Ketchup
1. Dots and Loops
3. Transient Random-Noise Bursts

I've never seen them live and can't wait for their show in September.

If you want a guided youtube session, there was a recent pitchfork article with incredible links to live performances. Some of these are mesmerizing:

If you are intrigued, you should get these represses at some point. As mentioned previously, the packaging on these triple LPs is just incredible. Transient Random-Noise Bursts was easily the best record I've gotten this year, in terms of packaging, and feels like a steal for a 3LP at 30 bucks.

Highly recommended

I am shocked this isn't a ROTM for them.
