Pre-Order Thread

also the re-recording of Oh You're So Silent is on streaming already in case you hadn't seen! didn't look for night falls yet
I'm listening to it right now! The new version of Maple Leaves is decent, different enough where it doesn't feel too derivative. The new Black Cab sounds like "There She Goes" by The La's.
I hate this trend.

me too. i hadn't realized until recently just how many samples he used on some of his albums. it sucks but i don't see any way they could afford to properly license everything and keep it in print.
Yeah I think he stopped using samples as much in everything starting with "I Know What Love Isn't" because it is a huge issue. It's unfortunate but I'm happy to finally be able to own the compilation.

it already is...
True, but I always assumed that it would eventually be repressed and the price would tumble to something more reasonable which is often the case but my guess is there will always be a desire for the original work meaning the price will likely stay up there (not that I was planning on selling it anyways). The weird one for me is Night Falls Over Kortadela since that had been repressed in its original version back in 2018. I might need to strike on the recent copy of When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog before that one becomes less affordable.

In the last year it jumped from $70 or so to $200+. I might grab When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog too but don't think that one is as sample heavy so don't know that they have to re-record it. I almost got the green pressing recently but heard it had awful QC issues.

[Looks up from his recently purchased copy or The Head and The Hearts debut Album]

What’s are you yammering on about now @Joe Mac ?

That whole thing in the late 00s early 10s when a bunch of hipsters formed folk groups that were too boring to form any real opinion on but yet they still seemed to be everywhere over the radio and tele.

Yeah, I enjoyed some of that stuff (as stated in my previous post) I think there is a lot of empty calories with some of that stuffs but fun to sing along to while driving around in the car.

Actually you may be the impetus for my creation of a “Indie Hipster” Spotify playlist

Time to break out the Mumford & Sons, Mowglies, Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeros, and Vance Joy!

I’m going to state that often, and particularly when it’s sunny and I’ve got my shades on and all is good with the world, there is very little music that I don’t enjoy singing along to in the car 😂

I'm kinda mad I was beaten to the Sheryl Crow response.

That whole indie-acousticy vibe is such a singles thing in my playlist. The Lumineers do it more than others but so much of it is just a grouping of barely coherent songs as opposed to fuller concept albums. Has its place just super variable to how many songs really connect.

Edit: To pile on, I felt THaTH were/are an exception to this, I will spin or play their albums occasionally beginning to end.
