The latest installment in Neil Young’s archive performance series featuring a concert capturing Neil + Promise Of The Real in all their glory on their 2019 European tour. The live album Noise & Flowersis available in several formats, including double vinyl, CD, and a Deluxe Edition box set.

Noise & Flowers documents a 9-date tour that began just two weeks after Young’s lifetime friend and manager of more than 50 years, Elliot Roberts, passed. Performing alongside a photograph of Roberts taped to his road case, Young approached each show as a celebratory memorial service to honor his late friend. It’s a trek that Neil describes as “wondrous.”

The release explores his vast discography, with his frequent backing band since 2015, Promise Of The Real. It features classics “Mr. Soul,” “Helpless,” “Rockin’ in the Free World” with rare 70s deep cuts “Field of Opportunity,” “On the Beach,” and ’90s gems “From Hank to Hendrix,” “Throw Your Hatred Down.”

The 2LP/CD/Blu-ray box set includes the companion film, directed by Bernard Shakey and dhlovelife, emphasizing both the intimacy and ecstasy of these performances.

LOL so I saw the Polyvinyl link elsewhere, decided to go with the bundle of both LPs because I actually like the Blue better than the early bird. And, unfortunately/fortunately? I think Alvvays might go Mitski/Phoebe big with this release and could easily flip one later down the line. I grabbed the Orange one too since I would probably have gotten that one originally had I seen all options at first.
