It's funny because Alex Turner just gave an interview for NME that says it's more "back to earth" sounding. The audience recording of the new tack seems to side with Helders though.Hard pass, unfortunately. TBH+C was such an obtusely insufferable exercise in unchecked egomania it pretty much soured me on the whole band. Helders has made multiple comments in interviews that this new album (at the time untitled) will be a lot like it's predecessor, and Turner recently did a photoshoot for a French magazine where he was looking like Gainsbourg at his most slovenly. Turner's looks have always been a good indicator of what one of his albums will sound like, and it was *not* a good look.
Who knows, maybe I'll be wrong...

I haven’t been lukewarm on the AM for over a decade now. Every albums since Favourite Worst Nightmare has piqued my interest but ultimately left me unmoved.
I enjoyed Tranquility Base when it was released but it hasn't been something I feel the need to revisit. Also, on the Royal Albert Hall album when they're out side by side with their classics the songs seem like a bit of an energy drainI really love tranquility base. It’s not my favorite of their albums but it’s up there. My least favorite is probably the debut tbh.
I'd say they follow the Oasis model. Very early hype, first few albums are classics, everything since then has been ok but everything they do creates a major buzz.I'm experiencing a weird sensation of having lived a lifetime of ignoring the existence of Arctic Monkeys entirely, reading this post that reinforced everything I thought I knew, and then coming across this description that suddenly makes me wonder if this band is actually interesting.
