Pre-Order Thread

There’s a radio show on some public radio station in Ithaca I’ve been listening to (can’t remember how I even found it…maybe through an instagram record account?) and they were playing some Cluster a week or two ago. had never heard it before. Some awesome stuff! Gonna check these out
I love Cluster and most of the core kosmische and krautrock canon but only have a few on vinyl. I’ll be interested to learn how these sound. I’d buy them blindly based on my other experience with Superior Viaduct (the two Artemiev/Tarkovsky soundtracks below), but I need to slow my roll with record purchases. I’ve sold a ton in the last month, but I’ve also bought too many. Btw, these soundtracks from Superior Viaduct are absolutely not for everyone but, if you think they might be for you, they’re great, and the package is nice, too. They’re solidly in the category of “things I don’t play when my wife is around” or when I’m feeling anxious or stressed.

Great Australian Indie/Shoegaze band. Toured with the Cure and MBV back in the day.

Another great 90's Shoegaze band.

You may want to check out this, too. It's Cluster with Michael Rother of NEU! (and, previously, Kraftwerk).

I’ve been good (by my standards) about not buying too much this month. But there were also a few preorders rolling in (Wilco and Stones mono box from Target came yesterday), have gotten 3 records in person and some bandbox orders. Have a fat pile to sell too.

I love the superior viaduct stuff I have too. Have a couple of jazz records that all sound solid. And I thought they did a nice job on Harold Budd- Pavillion of Dreams (don’t have another pressing to compare to though). I’ll give those soundtracks a listen. Familiar with the movies but been a minute since I’ve seen them.

Let me know how the LPs sound when ya get them please!

The sad thing with a lot of the electronic Kosmische (aka Krautrock) reissues is they are on Bureau B. I have found their pressings to be not very good, on a level with 4MWB and probably taken from a cd source. Admittedly I have only heard a few but have not been happy with any of those pressings. Hopefully these 2 Strand reissues are the start of a bigger reissue series for Cluster.

Agreed. Bureau B is fine but I find their reissues lacking for the most part. Almost certainly digital but at least not gray label like 4men. I have Sowiesoso from Cluster as well as Rastakraut Pasta on Bureau B. I don’t really feel like shelling out a bunch of cash for early pressings though so they are fine enough. Superior Viaduct’s recent reissues I’ve gotten of Harold Budd’s Pavilion of Dreams and Gavin Bryars’ Sinking of the Titanic have been fantastic though so there’s hope these Cluster reissues will be good too.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, but I was trying to say that, even though I’ve sold a bunch, I’ve still bought too much recently so I’ll wait to hear about these when released.
