"All titles will be newly mastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI and packaged in deluxe tip-on jackets."

Meticulously mastered from analog sources
That’s what they are implying… but it is not stated AAA. And analog source and master tapes are two different things. This is why mofi got in trouble - they used to do AAA and then changed their wording to this and didn’t tell people that they had inserted a digital step. I’m not saying they aren’t, I’m just saying this is the same company that released an audiophile series with masters by Reeves pressed at Third Man.

I was doing a quick c/p of a bunch of the info but they're aiming for all-analog remasters by RKS from the original tapes for every release, so the idea is that they will sound better.

Execution of the idea? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They're definitely aiming for the crowd that wants more than the $12 OJC repress. There's nothing wrong with being happy with that, but they're betting there's an audience of 2500 that want more. I suspect it's a pretty good bet with jazz collectors :ROFLMAO: Coltrane hasn't had a high-end repress since the 2009 AP (KG Master) and that'll cost you 3x as much on the secondary market.
Mine is from the exact stampers as the 2009 Prestige/OJC (https://www.discogs.com/release/5207180-John-Coltrane-Coltrane) so it’s a quality release.

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Who is paying a premium for "limited to 2500" copies of shit like Coltrane and Evans records? There are a billion pressings out there. At least try something like the Blue Note boxes where they're throwing in archival stuff or unreleased material. I think I paid $12 for an OJC stamper re-press of Coltrane and Verve are asking $50 for something that'll likely sound exactly the same but come in a better jacket.
Only because people keep referring to the $12 OJC repress, I thought I'd point out that it's a different album. The OJC is the self-titled album on Prestige, and this is the self-titled on Impulse. I don't think there's been a high-quality audiophile version of the Impulse release in at least 15 years, and that was a 2 x 45. I'm not sure I want to subscribe for $47, but I'd certainly be interested in the LP if it were at the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series pricepoint. I think that's my biggest concern: Will this new subscription series take some of the titles that Chad could have given a wide release through the Verve Acoustic Sounds series off the table for him? I mean, I realize Chad doesn't get a lot of love around here, but I really like being able to pick up the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series releases on sale for under $30.

Fair, not many artists have multiple self titled albums so whoopsies

I love Chad’s product just not his attitude.

I’ve got some generic version Impulse pressed at optimal a couple of years ago. Got it on the cheap and am happy with it for the price.

Every Acoustic Sounds Series I own is exceptional. Also love finding them on sale, most typically $25 - $27, sometimes slightly cheaper
