Pre-Order Thread

I love Serpentine Prison and was so sad when his tour was scrapped due to covid. Glad he's finally getting a chance to do a solo tour.

I certainly would not complain if there was an El Vy 2.0 in the future. Such a fun record and super fun shows
Yeah I'd love to go to one but the closest one is Chicago to me. I bought Dermot Kennedy, Zach Bryan, Shane Gillis tickets last week for Notre Dame Stadium. My wife might get real mad at me if I said I am going to drive or fly to Chicago for that at this point.

I haven't yet, but I will. I've really cut back on purchases - nearly out of shelving. I really should unload some of my records, but I never seem able to.

We met Hamilton at Homecoming - he was so nice.
I have always felt that that The Walkmen and The National share an affinity to a similar type of indie rock both musically and aesthetically.

Where is the goddamned clear variant or the red with clear splattered variant. This is amateur bs.

This band and album is so good. Great Midwest Emo/Post-Hardcore rock. Our local band called Traindodge took a lot of inspiration from Giant's Chair. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the Chicago to Kansas City scene from the 90's.

Always meant to ask this and never have strangely until NOW.

So, how did this thread originate? In other words, do some of you own record shops, or are you just on a boatload of mailing lists? Always curious how this "inside" information is available, especially when I haven't heard of 70% of what often gets posted here.

I'm not just into commercial music by any means, but there are some REALLY deep cuts in this thread from people I didn't know existed.
Every now and again, I see a reissue or a first time pressing on vinyl of some 90s band I followed back in the day, but that's seldom.

Anyway, I frequent this thread and appreciate its contributors... just curious if there's some industry folk that receive updates earlier than most.

I'm doing the math. I must have been obsessed with this album a few years after it's release. I probably just knew the Down and All Mixed Up videos at the time and then hit my 311 phase in high school. That at least gave me a few years back.
Wouldn't have been this album, rather their debut and follow-up... but 311 played all the time at my alma matter in Lincoln, NE. They had an extremely strong following in Omaha, and would do regular shows on campus each year as well as small(er) clubs in town. This was before the move to CA, so they weren't dicks at this point.

Just noticed, it's 3/11. Maybe that beckons finding one of their records on 311 day. Hmmmm...

@Twentytwo is the driving force behind this thread and is very generous with his time and efforts. The rest of us look at it as a badge of honor if we get a release posted here before he does.

It started in the old VMP forum. Originally I think it was a way to keep up with VMP’s shop, then it morphed into what you might see on the r/VinylReleases, which is basically everyone posting preorders from their favorite label or other popular subscription services.

It’s certainly humbling having never heard of some bands, but makes you realize just how much music is being made or has been made. 99% of it I’ll never own on physical and probably 75% of it I’ll never actually hear.

With that said, there are some record store accounts here, as well as those that run distribution websites (@Ethos99), but I don’t think they necessarily contribute to this thread in particular.
