I ordered the recent Bone Thugs Harmony RSD release from PoS, sleeve was all jacked up. Huge corner bend and seam splits. See pics for evidence. Reached out to CS, who basically said, “not our problem”, wouldn’t offer any type of compensation whatsoever, not even for me to send it back.

i will never order from them again

As someone who buys most of my vinyl Mailorder I get really tired of this kind of customer service. There are many great on line sources of vinyl. And then there are far to many retailers and direct to consumer distributers that pack vinyl poorly and refuse to stand behind the sale when damage does occur. Nice covers and display boxes are a major part of the value to vinyl collecting. I would never walk into a retail store and pay full price for a damaged item.

Considering ALL (well, most) record stores get their inventory via mail delivery, you'd think they'd be more understanding.

Their response was “all of our records are perfect when shipped, any damage incurred isn’t our fault”. I live in fucking Montana, everything is shipped to me. Every single time I get something damaged, I’m taken care of, whether it’s companies like RecordStore.co.uk (they either reship or refund, don’t ask to ship back), indies, or independent sellers. PoS is the only place that offered zero recourse. And I will only refer to them as POS, because that’s what they are.

Sadly my POS list has grown much longer. I’ve started keeping notes so I can avoid the bad ones whenever I can. But, occasionally you want something that is only available from a source you know is bad so you take a chance knowing you are risking a loss/disappointment. Other times I don’t buy something just because I know from experience the seller simple doesn’t care and the risk is to great.

OTOH, I have had great sellers go above-and-beyond. Aways try and support the good ones.
 
I finally got the new Flaming Lips album. I had pre-oredered the colored variant with the signed art print. Instead I got black vinyl.... This happen to anyone else?

Mine just came but it is at my office. Will check it tomorrow. I did get an email awhile back stating that instead of the tri-color it would be the less limited teal/pink version with signed print. :-(

Brad at The Light In The Attic shop here in Seattle posts it when he gets damaged inventory. He offered to mail something to me recently, so I wouldn't have to come in, and, as expected, it was packed really well. You'd assume others would operate the same way, but they don't.

Expect it to be black instead of teal/pink. Looking at reddit it seems that nobody got the colored vinyl with the art print.
