HAY! You made it! They gave us 48 hours notice they were nuking the forum for basically no reason beyond some vague insufferable corporate speak. So @AnthonyI crowdfunded $1000 towards a new site, got $3500 in about 24 hours, he in conjunction with all the mods you see on the site built this in about 1.5 days and we all came over here and watched the VMP forum blip out of existence.
But don't be sad. This place is much better.

There's scones and fizzy water in the cafe...

We never got much of an explanation. Something new (and vague) is coming. They couldn't handle having the forum AND come up with this new mystery thing. They needed to be more "intentional" (actual word used as an excuse like 50 times). Gave us 48 hours notice then shut 'er down. Some kind and creative folks banded together and made this new (better) home for us! That's about the most condensed version of the odd story I can offer!

It's all probably referenced one way or another in more detail over the last 10 pages or so -- if you really felt like going through the effort of piecing all that bullshit together like a dumpster jigsaw covered in garbage filth -- but I got the weird impression that it probably had something with me being too handsome. It upsets people.

They both add up.

I also mentioned that I always thought the company name was stupid, semi recently, and continued to make jokes about how things were "undervalued."

Basically, they fucked up a lot and had no plans to fix those problems. Instead, they'd dump money and attention into new stupid ego-based vanity projects like working with Blue Note and Pitchfork or releasing anoraks, rather than shipping and stock issues or quality control. The Weyes Blood shit was about to hit the fan hard and, I'd noticed that, if you looked up VMP Weyes Blood -- along with several other VMP related topics -- the forum popped up pretty high on Google searches. We know what happened.

It was because I was too handsome.

It does IMO give less credence to the notion that they were anti-criticism and that’s what ultimately made their decision final. They must know how much they have been bad-mouthed here so to direct people here seems counterintuitive to me if this was their reasoning.

Yes, as much as I'm very pissed at them right now they in no way needed to forward people here and must know we're just crushing them on this forum so honestly that's cool of them to do. Credit where credit is due

Unless it's a gesture made for that exact reason, appearances sake. That post also makes it look as if they gave a proper heads up to us, which is bogus. As pointed out before, it's dated last year. People are finding us anyway and others were still going at them hard on reddit the last time that I was on there and reddit links here. That's why I wonder how much debate there might have been either way on this one. I can't imagine that everyone thought it was a great idea to link here. Either way, I'm glad they did it.
