R.I.P. VMP Forum

I'm not, so much. Newbury sells other products. I'll just be sitting waiting to pick through these abandoned collections
With Newbury I mean more in the line of companies that make a fair bit of scratch from records. What will they replace them with? What will be the new fad? I'm really curious. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited for the fad to die. Alot of people that got into vinyl as a fad are really pretentious about it and alot of these companies just do FOMO bullshit while the getting is good and couldn't give a damn about Records at all in reality

I am very curious what's going to happen to VMP and places like Newbury when the Vinyl Fad fades...

I expect Newbury will be fine. They are established with other lines of merch. VMP, not so much since they've worked so hard to alienate the people that will still be buying when the bubble bursts. VMP will either go the way of the Dodo, beg forgiveness from their core customers or start selling cassettes and 8 Tracks or whatever the next fad is.

Do they even still make 8 track players? Begging forgiveness would be entertaining...

No, but I dont think they make cassette players anymore either and that's not stopping them from selling cassettes. Do they even make CD players anymore?
They definitely make cassette players. Some local record stores have them. They even have cassette Walkman-type players that will convert the tape to mp3 for you.
In fact, I’m in the search right now for a solid cassette deck to add to the hifi. Debating between vintage and new.

I know many of you don't like VMP anymore but I bought a Pride hat. 100% of the Proceeds of the Hats go to The Trevor Project and as a Bisexual I'm glad that VMP is doing something Positive for LGBTQ individuals. If you'd like to there's still hats however They're in low stock

100% to a good cause..............I would hope people could put aside their VMP issues for a good cause ;)

I actually have a Father John Misty demo cassette that came free with the Honeybear pre-order but I've never played it because I have no tape deck.
same, I have a few bonus cassettes, thought about buying a cheap one and plugging it into my computer and digitalizing them

I'm always surprised about A Night At The Opera. Like how did they get something so big. Like not even Indie big, bigger then that!

Im not seeing that it's a big deal. It's the same mastering that's been available since 2015. Also there were numerous reports of noisy albums. The 2015 black reissue is very well done.

So- surprise, surprise- they screwed it up. And that's after getting the jacket wrong.

Hmm thats a shame. A friend got me that pressing for my birthday last year and it does sound like a dream. Doesn't surprise me they made a mess of their pressing.

I've been wanting to get VMPs copy of it for a while now thinking they did something special but if the colour is the only thing im gonna reconsider.
