R.I.P. VMP Forum

Im not seeing that it's a big deal. It's the same mastering that's been available since 2015. Also there were numerous reports of noisy albums. The 2015 black reissue is very well done.

So- surprise, surprise- they screwed it up. And that's after getting the jacket wrong.

I dont know, man. That's a pretty beautiful pressing and mine sounds great

Hmm thats a shame. A friend got me that pressing for my birthday last year and it does sound like a dream. Doesn't surprise me they made a mess of their pressing.

I've been wanting to get VMPs copy of it for a while now thinking they did something special but if the colour is the only thing im gonna reconsider.
Outside of the VMP extras and the colored vinyl I believe it's the same master as @HiFi Guy mentioned.

Have they given a reason for this yet?

Yeah. They said that they know that it was in there, but when they were given the opportunity to do it, they couldn't pass it up. I can find the exact quote, if you like. Someone asked how they didn't know it was going to happen, saying that they thought most choices begin a year out. Storf responded that 3 months to pull one out is the cut off

Did it sell out quickly ? Maybe new policy is to choose some ROTMs on the speed of exclusive sales....
Im only half joking.
Wait - the phoenix they sold in the store was a vmp exclusive? That doesn't sound right. I really hope they wouldn't do that. I thought it was just a curated pick.

I do not believe them. They tell us constantly that they have albums lined up months and months in advance. If there was any inkling that they would do Phoenix as AOTM, they knew it more than 3 months ago.

Double dipping ain't cool! (Unless you are family. Then go ahead and double dip that chip in the dip. But VMP is not family).
