Restocks/Represses

I need to pull out my cd and see if I want the vinyl despite Nettwerk chicanery. I don’t really want to support those fucks, any indication that this might be limited? If it was Rabies, I would smash buy now without hesitation. That’s my fav. I haven’t listened to Last Rights in a long time. I should do that too.
not limited. They did rabies as well -- this is the last one; all of the nettwerk stuff is now reissued except BRAP and 12" Anthology and Ain't It Dead? Those and "The Process" are the only pre-breakup albums that haven't been done. The presses have been OK. Better than Verve by Request and Turd Man. They definitely benefit from a cleaning.

I've heard this pressing isn't great but this album is an all time classic

I need to crank mine a little but I don't recall anything unforgivable with my copy. Worth it for the album!

I also don't think anyone should miss this one. It's a classic and the remaster sounds great.

I just read a post about the Japanese band 800 Cherries - Romantico an album from 1998 that was aptly compared to Stereolab. After enjoying my initial listen I started exploring vinyl options and it looks like there was a recent reissue limited to 300 from last year and there are still 5 copies available. I think a few of folks might be interested in this too.

What’s the likelihood of non-VMP Chalino releases?

depends on how their own numbers go -- from storf's comments on the discord, basically no one believed chalino would do numbers and it sold fucking hard gangbusters numbers, so everyone on the business side had an eyebrow-raising moment where their eyes suddenly had little dollar signs instead of pupils. if craft does alright on what's there -- which they will, it's not like there's a lot of chalino in the US, so it's this or nothing unless you want to import it -- then they'll do more.

cf, disney with gay days, cruise ships with gay cruises -- when they realized there was a market with disposable income they weren't money from, they broke out those rainbow flags PDQ. cf also the music industry when they started using soundscan and realized country and hip hop were also pushing numbers. I imagine the meeting went something like "you mean rednecks and black people like music too? holy shit why are we letting small labels make money off this shit?" they just realized latinos are willing to be stupid with vinyl prices too, not just pop stuff like selena and shakira or whatever.

I’m confused. How do you think soundscan proved country and hip hop moved records? Those records were sold before too? All soundscan did was create a mechanism to account for what left the door versus what sat on the shelf.
