RSD 2020

Bull Moose is doing it Supermarket Sweep style. You get a two minute window to get what you need, RSD only, With staff help, in two minutes and you’re out. No lines, just a waitlist out front and then called in. I feel like that’s a really good way to do it

Seems better planned than others so we will probably try that as opposed to Newbury or one of the two locals, though we could hit those easy enough.

I think my local's overall rules are pretty good, though I'm not happy they're still allowing people to line up, just with an admonition to socially distance. Getting in line at my usual time (usually one of the first 4 or 5) might be the safest way to get records and minimize contact with others, even with the usual threat of selfish, stupid people. At the same time, with it being over 3 days and delayed from April, there might be fewer people than usual. Since they don't do online sales, showing up is the only way to support them.

"Our current 10 customers at a time policy will remain for RSD.

Each customer will have 15 minutes max to shop. We know this is LAME. But, we need to find a happy median between those inside and those waiting in line. Our staff will be ready to help locate titles for you. That way you won't waste precious minutes searching.

We are happy to shop for you. When it is your turn to come INSIDE but you'd rather stay OUTSIDE, we can grab your records and check you out on the sidewalk.

As always, only 1 copy of any title is allowed per customer.

No holds allowed.

To the faithful that religiously camp out each year, please keep social distancing in mind.

We so appreciate all of the support surrounding this event. Record Store Day is very important to us. But you all are much more important. Please do your part in keeping the event safe and fun for everyone!"

Sounds like one local in my area is going to have people show up for tickets with a time to come back to spread the crowds out. I'm guessing there will just be a line to get tickets, so not sure how great that will work.

which one? i want like 10 releases, but i can't stand around all damn day. this whole thing stinks.

Music Millennium. I will say they probably get the most stock in town. 2nd ave said they are opening at 8am. Jackpot opens at 10. Depending on how that works at Millennium will dictate where I end up.

They usually have a pretty great set up. I stopped by and asked about it the other day, and they said to keep an eye on the socials for more details this week.

I'll be trying to order that Wipers online at 10

How reliable is that list on the RSD site? I saw my local post Lou Reed's Songs for Drella on their IG for this coming weekend, when on the RSD site it says that one is slated for Oct 24.

thanks! 2nd ave is my preferred shop to support, but man they're so small and a long line could wrap around blocks of downtown. they were pretty vague about their plans. they also use dialup and a Y2K era credit card reader for payment!

They did say they had a plan to make payment easier, but who knows what that is. I may go to Millennium to get a number, then go get in line at 2nd ave if it doesn't look too bad. Nice thing is, a lot of people are staying away from downtown Portland. But I've had no issues down there, especially during the day.

hmmm, this is very weird. the list always had drella for the august drop, and i’ve seen some stores post that they have it already in their stock for this saturday. maybe it’s just a mistake on the rsd website??

The shop responded to me and said apparently the list just changed it to October and the shop deleted the post so, very hmmm indeed.

ugh, that is so dumb, why would they change something like that at the very last minute (or in this case, week) ??? i hope other stores who received drella will release it normally bc i wouldn’t have known it’d have been pushed back were it not for this post
