Funny that you say that... we just put it on as well and I asked my husband if he had cleaned the stylus because I thought the sound was not great.

I haven't got my copy yet but have read quite a few reviews. The source material likely plays a big part in this. Its live recordings from the early 50's and the recording equipment just wasn't what it is today. @HuddieLedbetter put a great review up over on the Blue Note thread yesterday, well worth a read.

I think "Just listening to -insert random rsd release here- and not really thrilled w/ the recording." should be the new RSD tag line. It's part of the reason I don't bother with RSD.

That's what I said to my husband - it's an old recording and a pressing is only as good as its source.

It might just be the recording itself. Early jazz recordings can be rough.

The Dirty Three is still listed on the RSD site as part of the September drop at 400 copies
But Fatbeats just released offered it for pre-order with an October date (same as Bullmoose) at 1k copies

I said that I thought this was an RSD release and FatBeats responded with
" thought so too - it's one of our unanimous all-time favorite albums here at HQ, so been stoked on this reissue for a minute - was going to be but looks like it got moved to a standard release in lieu of being a part of the third drop. "
Now, I'm trying to clarify whether or not it's the same release. I'll just buy it in September, instead of waiting, if that's the case

This is the only thing of interest that I didn’t get but was on the fence about it anyway. I had it in my cart from Rough Trade but it sold out while I was browsing for something else to get free shipping

It was really a late item that I was interested in and it seemed like stores only got 1 or 2 copies in. Most of the sellers on Discogs were overseas and I wasn’t going to go that route.
