Day 9: “Yes but no but..” - albums your really not sure off..staggering genius or..shite

The National - I Am Easy to Find

I am a huge fan of the National but somehow this album hasn’t fully clicked with me. Don’t get wrong, when I’m listening to it I enjoy it but it just seems a little too long, and when I’m in the mood for the National it’s not the album I’m going to grab to spin.

Sonic Youth/Jim O’Rourke - SYR3: Invito Al Ĉielo

This album is part of Sonic Youths’ SYR project which is all about improv. I didn’t know that when I purchased it, I just knew that the album cover looked cool and the record was a collaboration with future/former Sonic Youth member Jim O’Rourke. Absolutely love both Sonic Youth and Jim O’Rourke but not a huge fan of improvisational music. I appreciate the creativity involved with the concept but overall execution can often be lacking. I have listened to this a few times since purchasing it and as I spin it just now I am still unsure if I enjoy it. That being said, I still have a sealed copy of Rather Ripped on my shelf so the fact that I have spun this multiple times without reaching once for that must mean it’s pretty good... right?

Into a second day without power following a sustained and intense wind storm. iPhone serving as hotspot while also being charged by the laptop it's providing wi-fi for :p so really trying not to miss a day here LOL.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Reunions - Isbell is a can't miss for me, but this one just didn't move the needle for me outside of "St. Peter's Autograph", which in my opinion is one of his top 5 songs. (RIP Neal Casal) I think this is only the third time I have spun it, and I have two copies on vinyl and the the CD!

Day 9 - Yes but No
I interpret this as more of an album that divides fans. Pretty sure the original album is almost universally loathed by all Bowie fans (including David himself). The 2018 remix divided fans. Some liked the results (me), some still think it was a giant turd, and others felt it was cheating to go back and try to tamper with the thing no matter how it sounds.

At last .. I was worried these legends would be forgotten ...still one other local boy who needs flagging up (hint..he was an founding original member of ELO alongside Jeff Lynne but didn’t hang around ..successful in the 60’s with a diff band and again in the 70’s with another one)

I like that 2018 remix.
When I got the Loving The Alien box, I felt like Tonight was worse than what I remembered and Never Let Me Down was better.

I mean I could take this all serious and pick an album that I should really like but don’t feel that way about...or I could just play some bleeping a capella.
So here we go from Kiev to Carolina for a song that’s so cheesy it’s good...maybe!
