A record I’m truly mixed on. I really like the music itself on this album, and I especially like the jazzier cuts on this album like “Step Right Up”, but I really don’t think Tom’s growler voice goes well with some of the ballads on here (including “Tom Traubert’s Blues”, I’ve just never been able to get into that song).

Sneaks - Highway Hypnosis

Sometimes I think no else is capable of making Sneaks' brand of hip-hop and electronic influenced post-punk but sometimes I think it's a little too high-concept to actually enjoy. It all depends on my mood, but I'm really feeling it tonight after a bit of time away from it.

Jumping the gun on this one because I'm running out of daylight and battery! Still no power, though the houses across the street are back on the grid. Go figure.

Wtf?

A year later and I’m still not sure what to make of this one. I will say that I find the courage to release this is commendable. I also would have really dug the sludgy sabbath sound he was producing the last time I saw him.

Parts of the USA, what more can I say ............

Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes - What Kinda Music (Blue Note, 2020 VMP Exclusive Orange Vinyl)

I was close to playing the VMP exclusive of The National's Cherry Tree today, but saw that @tvham posted a record by them already yesterday. I also decided to avoid splatters and to go for a solid colour, and this one from Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes is a neon orange. Its an album that I still haven't fully absorbed really, I'm familiar with Dayes but less so with Misch. It's certainly a great album though, really relaxing.

Sheer Mag "A Distant Call" (2019 Wilsuns Recording Company, Diehard edition)

Here's a colour attack for you this morning. A veritable rainbow if you will... blue, green, yellow, red, orange. Suits the record well, too. This record always brings a smile to my face.

This was my AOTY for 2019, Get in your car about an hour before sunset and drive into the sun (best done alone) with this blaring out of your speakers....I think it might change your mind.

A swirled translucent pink is both appropriate for the cover and for one of the most romantic duos I've ever seen in person. Sickeningly sweet and guaranteed to make your significant other say "why are you not more like him (or her)".

They sure sound pretty though.
