DAY 15
TRAVELING
Gorillaz - The Fall
This album was recorded entirely on an iPad by Damon Albarn while on the road in North America touring for Plastic Beach and the lyrics and track titles are influenced by images of the United States and the places where the songs were recorded. I think it's a really cool concept for an album, even if the songs themselves lack some polish.
DAY 18
SHOULD BE MORE WELL KNOWN
Claire Cronin - Big Dread Moon
Most folk music doesn't really interest me, but I've got to say this album is pretty great. It is on the more depressive side of folk music but I find it a very engrossing listen. Her voice and almost deadpan delivery really does a lot for these songs in my opinion. Less than 50 people currently have this in their collection on Discogs which is a shame, I feel like this artist has a ton of potential.
DAY 22
COLLECTOR'S CORNER
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane
This Secret Santa gift from the impeccable @Jake! is a nice little curiosity to have in the collection, seems to be a Japanese bootleg of sorts, it sounds pretty great despite some surface noise!
DAY 23
RAISE YOUR HANDS
Billie Eilish - Live at Third Man
I know Discogs reviews would disagree with me, but I think hearing the group of enthusiastic teenage girls in the audience cheering and singing along is the best part
DAY 24
GREAT ALBUM FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS
Mitski - Be the Cowboy
I saw someone posted a Mitski record for this theme, but they didn't do this one so I'm claiming it lol. There's not very many records that I can genuinely say helped save my life, but this is definitely on the shortlist. It's oh so very special to me
DAY 27
LABELS
The Black Keys - Turn Blue
I always think spiral labels are cool, but screw whoever decided they should be on both sides so you don't know which side is which
